Here's one my counselor sent me this morning "Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future." -- Deepak Chopra

This isn't really a quote but its about ERP. Ocd has made you suffer for long enough, why not suffer in productivity by doing ERP? :)

This came from pinterest, somewhat fitting - If courage isn't the absence of fear but doing the right thing regardless of it, maybe confidence isn't the absence of insecurity but knowing you have real with despite of it, and maybe goodness isn't the absence of bad thoughts or impulses, but the conscious choice to behave according to your moral ideals despite of them.

@Anonymous Yes. Sometimes, when bad things in life happen (such as having ocd), I tend to ask myself or to the universe “Why me, Why do only bad things happen to me? Now I look at my problems with the mindset of “things don’t happen to me. Instead, they happen for a reason or purpose. I like to believe the universe created my life with ocd to shape me into a mentally strong person, to become empathetic toward those with mental illness, and etc. Things happen for my benefit, not to bring me down.

@Stephanie. Thank you for explaining! I 100% agree! I’m a therapist with OCD and my experience has allowed me to help so many people with OCD get better. It’s also teaching me how to unconditionally love myself.

I’m having a big OCD relapse and would like to hear anyone’s tips on how to be present and healthily deal with these intrusive thoughts and the “need” to preform compulsions. Thank you!!

I want to beat OCD because I have seen and felt the benefits of clearing my brain from unnecessary, pointless, thoughts. OCD is like 0 calorie food. It’s pointless. No nutrition or benefits come from my obsessions or compulsions. I don’t care to have answers to everything anymore. I catch myself just trying to stress myself out so that I have some worry to feed on. But like I said, it’s a 0 calorie food. I get nothing from it but wasted time and energy. My brain feels more spacious when I’m not consumed by OCD. I’m present. My personality has room to be herself without making space for bullshit. I tell myself now that worry is poison. I think Willie Nelson was the person I got that quote from? Anyways, that imagery of worries being poison for the mind has been transformative for me. I’m evolving. 💖 Thanks NOCD community.
