I suggest getting a counselor that understands OCD and specializes in ERP. ERP is crazy hard, but it works. I have noticed a big difference after only 3 exposures

Try to have compassion for yourself. If one of your family members was experiencing these unwanted and distressing thoughts, would you think they didn’t deserve to spend time with you? No! You’d want them to get the best care possible. You will definitely get to enjoy life again! Commit to treatment (ERP, or ERP combined with medication) and engage with the things you love even if it’s triggering. That way, you show your brain that OCD doesn’t get to make decisions for you! I wish I didn’t have OCD, but at the same time, it’s forced me to gain a lot of insight into how thoughts and feelings work, and it’s given me so much empathy for everyone who experiences mental illness.

How do I show compassion for myself? I’ve always been very self critical. I guess you can say I have low self esteem. So I’m always thinking negatively of my myself
