I’m so sorry he didn’t believe you sweetheart! I don’t believe in comparing people’s pain either. Yes, it does sound like you have OCD to me, but don’t lose heart. We’re all here for you and there is hope. Welcome to the app! ❤️

I’m so sorry that you didn’t have the best experience with your doctor. When I was 14 I also went through a bad period of OCD and had a similar response from my family doctor. If you have a strong support system in your parents I would suggest talking to them about it! They may help you look into seeing a psychiatrist or OCD specialist and learn proper techniques for how to cope with OCD:)

Family medicine is clueless when it comes to mental health. Try to find at least a counselor to talk to and he may be able to encourage your family doctor to treat you. If what you’re saying is true, you meet 90% of the DSM-V criteria for OCD. Honestly, he is NOT a mental health professional and I wouldn’t take much stock in anything he has to say about mental health.

Also, I would try to suggest getting him to look into Luvox. It seems to be helping me and I’ve only been on it for a short time.

Hello, so sorry to hear that was your experience with your doctor. OCD isn’t well understood generally. Is it possible for you to speak to someone else (ie can you go to another doctor who may be more supportive?) It’s so unhelpful to point out that other people are in a worse situation especially as OCD often gets worse over time - why should you have to wait for it to get worse rather than treat it now?! The best treatment for OCD is ERP therapy so if you can get a referral to someone who is experienced in using ERP that is ideal, and often medication can help as well. I hope you can find support to get better - don’t give up ?

I’m sorry your experience with ocd was downplayed because it was compared to somebody else’s. Struggle with ocd is struggle with ocd, and it’s not something to sugarcoat because it’s very serious and can disrupt multiple areas of life.

Yes I agree with the former comments if sounds like you have OCD, which is nothing to be ashamed of! There is help out there. Believe in yourself and lean on any positive support systems you have ♥️
