since getting on Zoloft and Clonidine, my impulses and tic disorder due to OCD has lessened significantly. i still have extreme compulsions and intrusive thoughts but they are not entirely debilitating. instead of having breakdowns because of intrusive thoughts every day of the week it is only a few days out of the week. still sucks, but definitely seeing progress.

Yes SSRIs can help significantly with OCD and anxiety

I've been trying to deal with OCD on my own for the past 15 years. I've tried every supplement you can imagine. Hot baths, breathing exercises, mindfulness, you name it. I once had access to medical grade CBD (By Trulieve) and it really helped with my anxiety, but I don't have access to that anymore. Kava tea has helped, though you'll have to see if it works for you and your health (I advise you thoroughly read the directions on the box before using it. You can get it from walmart or the vitamin shoppe, ect.) Anxiety is no joke. I'm now on day 5 of fluoxetine (Prozac), just to see if it will work. No serious side effects and I think it's helped my anxiety a bit (SSRIs respond differently in everyone). Now I'm not saying that an SSRI is the best thing for you, only that I, myself have officially run out of options so this is my last resort and I'll also be starting therapy soon. I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain, I've had a hard time this month too. Lastly you could try "The Calm App" if you haven't already. It help a little bit for me.. I hope you find something that works for you.

Just wanted to mention that 5mg of Prozac is a super low dose and you may need to increase at some point, or maybe not! I just wanted to mention this because Prozac like seriously saved my life and I had no side effects going up on it.

@Maybe,MaybeNot Day 5, not 5 mg. That's great that it's helped you.

@FreeBird00 Oh I misread that! Good luck to you! Prozac is awesome! It may need some time to work but some people feel better pretty quickly in it too!

@CatLove9 I know your question isn't for me specifically but the physician I seen told me that it could take about 6 weeks. I even asked about my symptoms "getting slightly worse" before getting better and he just said "It's well tolerated by most people and it's been out for a long time". Now, some of the people on reddit have said that it helps them on day one, others have said it's rough for a few weeks and then it gets better. I'm not sure that I feel a lot better just yet. Only less anxious around the hour I have to take it. (Could be placebo 🤷♂️ Either way I'll take it. Or could be that I haven't taken it long enough.) I'm sorry you're feeling more anxious. OCD is not for the faint at heart.

@CatLove9 That's great you don't have any bad side effects, I don't either. Just think one day soon you'll wake up for the day and realize you're calm. No racing thoughts and can get through the day without it being so difficult. Keep the faith 🙏 and if you you ever need to talk, we're all here for you!💫

@CatLove9 Taking anything for less than 6 weeks is considered a failed trial. Typically takes 4-6 weeks. After that you want to try increasing your dose for another 4-6 weeks.

I just got my SSRI’s and I’m kinda nervous to take them so I was wondering if anyone has had a good or bad experience with them.
