Self-sabotaging is any behavior that we do knowing its causing us harm in the long run. This could be things such as avoiding treatment or isolating. We often do it because we don’t feel we “deserve” to get better or connect with others. We might even use self-punishment as a compulsion to try to neutralize any thoughts we view as negative or immoral. To combat this we use opposite action. We still seek help- even when we feel we don’t deserve it!
