yes. but people without ocd, or any other mental disorder for that matter, tend to disregard scary thoughts much easier. then again in the end all thoughts are the same, and are all just thoughts.

Do they can still feel really anxious or uncomfortable with them? Can they still think about these thoughts everyday a lot and still not have OCD?

@bluesapphire people without ocd do not experience the same scary thoughts as repetitively as people with ocd

Okay that makes me really confused Ifk if I have ocd I doubt that but my mind keeps making me think about scary things and memories of things I did every single day for the past couple months (something similar to real event OCD and POCD) I felt extremely anxious all the time to the point where I couldn't eat or sleep properly, I felt so bad.. but now I think about those things all the time and I'm not that anxious anymore, just really uncomfortable and feeling guilty Idk

Yes. Most people get intrusive thoughts. Someone without OCD will be like "Hmmmm. That was weird" and forget all about it. But people with OCD attach meaning to the intrusive thought. We believe it says something about our character. Intrusive thoughts can be words or phrases, images, or urges.

@bluesapphire OCD makes you doubt you have OCD. Is your therapist one that understands OCD? If not, I would not put too much diagnosis or lack thereof. It is very common for OCD to be misdiagnosed.

@Lms526 Idk about that, I know that she's not a an OCD expert. My friend who has severe OCD thinks i do have OCD but idk, till I don't hear it from an expert I'm afraid to believe i do. But I do have some symptoms

Almost everyone on earth has intrusive thoughts. But someone with OCD and mental illnesses in general pay attention to intrusive thoughts more and start obsessing, which signals to the brain that (insert thought) is a threat. Then the brain will continually bring up the threat because it’s ass-backwards 🤪

I’ve had many types of OCD, but I gained control over them over the years, but a new one has started to arise. Do y’all ever have scary thoughts about something you might do? Recently I’ll get extremely uncomfortable no matter where I am because I can’t stop thinking about “what if I screamed really loud in my lecture class tomorrow?” And other stupid stuff like that. Also, this one is kind of funny, but sometimes when I use the bathroom I pause before because I think “what if I’m actually in class right now?” I also cannot control the thoughts about past embarrassing moments. I know everyone does, but I will become visibly uncomfortable and harp on something from years ago. This happens all throughout the day. Also, does anyone else do things that resemble tics when you get these thoughts. Like when they happen I’ll curse under my breath or like jerk my head a little bit. When I’m in public I keep it low key but when I’m alone sometimes I’ll physically get up and pace or something when those thoughts happen. Just curious if anyone has had these experiences

Is it true that ppl without ocd may not even notice some of their thoughts in the first place that people with ocd notice and fixate on?
