Basically OCD targets anything you care about. For example someone may love their dog very much but will feel the urge to hurt them because the OCD is targeting what they love. I sometimes feel the urge to kiss someone if im standing close to them, my OCD tells me to do it because in reality i care about being professional and adequate. To a person without OCD it might be important to make sure their door is locked, so they'll check it once or maybe even twice, but for someone with OCD it can become an obsession with possible compulsions even. In your case, your OCD is saying "hey, look, you care about this person, but what if you stab them? What if so and so happens? What if...?????". Some people even call OCD something between the lines of "the what if syndrome".

Yes I totally understand what you’re experiencing. I’ve come to realize that ocd will make you think and feel all sorts of things, whether or not they are consistent with your personality or values. I’d say just let yourself sit with those thoughts, don’t engage them, just let them come and go :)
