I had a similar experience, my panic attacks and anxiety got worse, and I had the worst persistent insomnia. I was scared of telling my psychiatrist I was suffering for almost 2 months and I realized that was way too long. Although there is an adjustment period for SSRIs, your medication shouldn’t continue to be making you feel worse. If your doctor recommends the higher dose, and it helps that would be great! Although, if it continues don’t hesitate to tell your doctor to stop it! I was also on 20, so maybe going higher would be beneficial? I’m not a doctor and these are just my experiences, but there are definitely better suited meds out there to try if this doesn’t work out 😊 also my only other advice is DON’T cold turkey it! This can be dangerous. Hope you feel better 🙏

Thank you very much for your response too, yeah I definitely think I will need a higher dose but I’m waiting to see how the 20 kicks in too, no definitely won’t go cold turkey! Thank you appreciate it! Wish you well too!

Have you been diagnosis with just OCD? Best regards, 7he 7empes7

@7EMPES7 Hello, yes OCD is my diagnosis I think it’s mostly pure O from what my therapist said it’s mostly obsessions/ intrusive thoughts with a little bit of compulsions. My ocd revolves around death so that’s on my mind every day I did the erp and I also watch videos and read for exposure on my own, but I realized I also needed a medicine change and adjustment/ just too uncomfortable

I am on prozac for 12 years at 60mg per day. It has helped me to reduce my anxiety so that I can practise behavioural therapy. To treat OCD, SSRI must be taken at high dosage & for at least 10-12 weeks to see if it helps you.

Hi I’m glad it has helped you! Yes A high dosage seems to work best for people with ocd. I’m hoping Prozac will bring me relief after some time and increase in dose

I tried Prozac, also called Fluoxetine... I seriously didn’t enjoy it. I began having terrible anxiety, panic attacks, couldn’t sit still. I Couldn’t concentrate, I felt like I was losing my mind, I really thought my symptoms were getting worse. But I believe they were side effects of the medication. I changed to Sertraline 100mg and never felt better. I think I was on 20mg Fluoxetine, but it seemed to increase the anxiety, as it never subsided completely... I just thought this is me from now on?

Hello , thank you for your response, yes sounds similar to me it’s like a roller coaster I could be feeling great literally singing in the shower yesterday and today was anxious all day.. mine is for ocd/ intrusive thoughts. Right yeah definitely I know I need to give it time and I know it’s a super low dose, it just sucks feeling like this as we all know. But thank you for the feedback I appreciate it and hope you have positive results as well!

I am in almost the same boat. I was on 10mg for a week, then 20 mg for 4 weeks, and this is now my second week on 30mg. I was tapering off Zoloft for the first month though so it’s hard for me to tell what side effects are from which medication. So far I feel like it helped really quickly for depression but it doesn’t seem to have done much for the anxiety and ocd. I realize that I’m on a low dose still though. Before this I had been on Zoloft 200 mg for over 5 years (the equivalent is 60-80mg of Prozac). The journey to find the right ssri is a long and complicated one.

Hi thank you for responding, I’m glad it has helped you, yes I’ve been more tired too in the beginning I was soooo tired it’s gotten better

I’m still really tired. I wonder if that is from the Prozac or if it’s been too long to blame it on the medication 🤔

I’ve been on 40mg of Prozac everyday for about 6 months. I absolutely love it, I do still have symptoms once in a while but it’s truly given me my life back from ocd!!

Thank you for responding, that’s awesome happy for you! I’m hoping to get to a good dose and have some more relief as well. I’ve heard many good things about Prozac for ocd, I was on lexapro for over ten years and I guess it pooped out

@Anonymous That’s what happened with Zoloft for me! After five years it stopped working 😑 I learned that it can happen to around 30% of people on ssri’s and they don’t know why 🤷🏼♀️

@Have a sunflower🌻 Hey, yes I heard that too, I guess the body builds up a tolerance and we need to switch it up at times

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?
