OMG. thank you for putting a name to this! I have this with swallowing. And sometimes I feel hyper aware about my body and organs.

It’s not easy, I totally understand. I often tell people to find something to look forward to every day. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is as long as it gives you joy. If you can’t find something, make there be something and treat yourself.

It is very frustrating and confusing. How long have you had this

I think I’ve only had it for a few months, but it seems like I’ve had other forms of it sensorimotor OCD before it started on my blinking. Those forms have always attached themselves to my current obsession.

Me to it’s been since July! Yea where the same I had mine on breathing. Do you go to therapy or have any coping skills to handle this obsession

Yup, I’ve had it with breathing too. I’ve never been to therapy, but I do have a few ideas that might help. Sometimes I just allow myself to blink. Another thing you can try is, when you suddenly become hyperaware of your blinking, to really force yourself to focus on what you’re doing or find something to do that requires your full attention. Also, when I start thinking about my blinking my eyes feel like they’re drying out. I know it’s psychosomatic, but it’s still awful. When this happens it may help to close your eyes for a few seconds. Of course, depending on what you’re doing, you may not be able to, but I thought I’d throw that out there.
