My doctor prescribed me Lexapro but in talking to other people with ocd, I've heard Zoloft is very helpful specifically in treating the OCD. So I asked my doctor if I could try Zoloft instead and she switched the prescription. I haven't taken either yet. Just had my appointment but I'm hoping I made the right decision in asking her if she could switch it. I suppose I could always try another if Zoloft doesn't work. I just need relief so badly.

Hello! I was on Zoloft for years. I am off of it now. When I was on Zoloft, my OCD symptoms went away a lot but not completely. I went off of Zoloft because I had other side effects. Now that I am off of Zoloft, my OCD is much worse. But I am doing Therapy and learning ERP so I am hopeful I will start feeling better. A reminder that all medication affects each person differently, and everyone will have a different experience on it. ❤️

Hi! Im on 25mg of Lexapro and my intrusive thoughts and rituals are almost non existent now (ive been on it for 1 year and also see a therapist bi weekly & have an OCD workbook) I would definitely recommend trying medication! I was nervous at first but I couldn’t imagine not being on it now.

hi, I just started taking a low dosage of zoloft(sertraline) for OCD and generalized anxiety and I am on my second day. For anyone who has taken an SSRI or my specific medicine, how long did it take for you to notice a difference?

Hi everyone, I’m new to the community. I was diagnosed with OCD just a couple of months ago and have been doing some reading and other research to try and understand the disorder. With this, I have been actively seeing a great therapist who has been helpful to build tools to deal with my intrusive thoughts ( contamination OCD is my worst theme). Do help learn to deal with the compulsions, I start on Sertraline or “Zoloft” I believe since November 2024. Currently I’m on 50mg and have been doing this for just over a month. My question for those who are also taking Sertraline and it has been successful, how do you know it has really provided a benefit and how long did it take to get there? I sometimes feel the medication works, and sometimes I feel it doesn’t (maybe that’s my OCD trying to mess with things). Thanks!
