As a cautionary tale from someone who spent the past 10+ years a dedicated meditator I would strongly encourage you to research the potential adverse side effects of meditation before proceeding. Even daily use of meditation apps can bring on unwanted experiences and people with OCD appear to be predisposed to these. If you have experienced existential or somatic themes you stand the risk of revisiting them in a very intense way. Meditation can be extremely relaxing and helpful for a period of time and then out of nowhere everything changes. This isn’t guaranteed and many will never experience these aspects of the practice. However, please take the time to visit the following website and familiarize yourself with the potential side effects and read people’s personal stories. I’m happy to answer questions you may have. I stopped meditating this past January and have experienced a significant reduction in OCD symptoms as well as freedom from extended episodes of depression and heightened anxiety. Please take good care of yourself. https://www.cheetahhouse.org/

Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?

Good morning, I have been noticing more and more that I might have OCD. I am currently a student and this is causing me to slack a lot during school. I am a student who has a 504 plan (accommodation for my mental health) and would like to add this app on my 504 due to my school having a no phone policy. My question is, how can this app help me while in school? What are things that can happen during school that might lead me to using this app? I am new to this app and barley finding out that I might have OCD. If any clarification needs to be made on this post please let me know! :)
