Prozac takes a long time, but for me it also seems effective. Hope you experience relief soon :)

David how long did you have to wait to see results. Iāve read at a minimum 10-12 weeks

@davidshq Yeah that would be the 12 week mark. I wonder why it takes so long with OCD.

@jfount11117 I think it may be pretty long for other disorders as well when treated with Prozac, has something to do with building up in the blood I think? In my personal experience depression level dosage didn't touch my ocd....I've been on 60 mg for 17 yrs or so

@jfount11117 Yes, it does a good job. I'd say 80% reduction in symptoms.

Hey. I hope it works soon for you. How long have you been on it? I tried it but side effects were too much. I am extremely sensitive to meds so not everyone is the same. Iām now on Effexor for the last 3 weeks. How long are you taking it? You should see improvements within 4-6 weeks. I stuck it out for 8 weeks but wasnāt for me.

Experience with Prozac
I was diagnosed with OCD and I started Prozac 10 days ago. I have struggled with intrusive taboo sexual thoughts for 12+ years (Iām 24) but now I feel like itās turning into feelings. Iāve never done anything to anyone or nor do I wish to ever. I am just scared of my own brain if this is something I actually want. My psychiatrist said I should feel better/start getting clarity after 2 weeks. But I keep feeling worse and worse. Anyone else has experience with Prozac and how it went for them?

itās getting worse
i canāt cope with the fact that iām alive. i am currently 3 1/2 weeks into prozac 40mg feeling nothing with 0.1mg clonidine daily for anxiety attacks. i have heavy derealization and canāt tell what around me is real and fake. please someone tell me it gets better.

Medication (Prozac)
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
