I had my issue with that. But your fate is not to go to hell. From my belief you make your own decision to go to hell through sinning. I believe that hell exists but God s mercy is bigger than his justice it is more difficult to go to hell than to heaven because of his love.

Yes thank you. My fear of that has made me do things which I regret and fear. I’ve asked for forgiveness, I’ve repented and surrendered to Jesus Christ and yet I still doubt and doubt. I’m sick and tired of myself of constantly make mistakes over mistakes

Im Catholic and since I came to know Christ my ocd became better in some aspects. But as christian my problem with ocd is about giving promises or vows to God and my "strategy" was to fight fire with fire. That means I gave promises to stop my compulsions and if I did not keep them then it would have been a sin. Unfortunately today I have the problem that I am not allowed to do anything.

Well , I would suggest not making promises to God . We can’t fulfill those promises and God knows that . He doesn’t want us to focus on what we can and can’t do . Focus on His love for you and your obedience towards Him . If you focus on your issues , the enemy will manipulate you because he knows you’ll fail . God knows you can’t fulfill that either so He says to focus on Him . There your treasures shall be stored and kept . He’ll bless you and keep you always ! Your focus will be on Him . What’s the difference between a catholic and Christian ?

Well, those promises are sometimes my ocd thoughts thats why also made them not on purpose. I do not really believe that there is a difference between Catholics and christians as long as you are trinitarian I do not care :)

There has to be some difference . And I’m actually a Trinitarian . Father , Son and Holy Spirit !

Well what is the difference in your opinion :)?

I believe in the Trinity because I believe in the triune being of our God . I believe that our God exists in 3 forms . God the Father , God the Son and God the Holy Spirit . I believe that it’s all the same being in different forms .

Yeah, I believe in that too. But didnt you mean that there has to be a difference between catholics ans christians or did I misunderstand?

Yeah I was asking what the difference is . I still don’t know what it is .

Well as mentioned I dont think there is a relevant difference. But as a catholic I believe that it is the only church which was founded by God personally.

I don’t know what the first church was , but I know that I’m a Christ follower !

Well Im following christ too but we can trace back our roots to the apostles and of course jesus. In my opinion it is important to be in this one church which was founded by God personally. But we may have different opinions :)

@Rohan kulkarni My actual fear is not actually that, but it’s going to hell and betraying God. And these thought just add a extra layer of fear

@Rohan kulkarni I don’t even believe in hell or a devil, but it’s the thought of me not knowing which triggers the OCD

Do you mean not knowing if hell exists?

Hello! It has been well documented that OCD can manifest itself in the form of religious rituals. There is a fine line between genuine piety and OCD. For those of you who have struggled or are still struggling with this, have you sought the guidance of a religious figure in addition to a therapist? Meaning, that you attend therapy with a therapist who works with you on ERP exercises, but also have a rabbi, priest, or imam who you use for guidance in determining what is actual piety versus behavior that is OCD?

Can anyone share their experiences with Religious OCD and how you came to realize it was OCD thoughts and not a true spiritual experience. Thank you

Hi! I have been struggling with ocd for many years of my life, however, I have recently been struggling with religious ocd. Currently my ocd has been putting thought into my mind like, “you shouldn’t go to that party, because “God” doesn’t what you to” or “don’t do this or else it’s going to make “God” mad.” These thoughts have been overall causing me so much anxiety, and truly I don’t know what to do. I’ve been struggling to identify it’s actually Gods voice or not. Also, my ocd has been also making my prayer a very stressful part of my day, which is not how it should feel at all. Now finding peace in prayer feels more like a chore, than a conversation. Does anybody else have ocd like this? If so, any tips?
