I experienced thus for several years. My best advice is to practice an exposure narrative immediately. Maybe look in the mirror and recite the narrative to yourself. I find this method helpful, personally.

I am starting ERP next week so I will see if I can incorporate this into my morning. Thank you!

Yes every morning I wake up with those painful anxiety feels throughout my body, with racing thoughts. I know that anxiety is higher in the morning because it’s the body’s natural instinct to have increased anxiety in the morning to wake you up, so that could make it worse. Idk I’m not a professional. But sometimes just moving the body helps, like stretching, or getting out of bed.

Thank you. I tend to stay in bed and it makes it worse. I will try getting up as soon as it starts!

I do the same thing!! I end up staying in bed half of the day, on my phone, reassuring myself.

Yeah and I called in sick today from work as it’s too much to handle , I’m going to have to see if I can return working from home :( ocd really is a disability :(

It really is, and is really misunderstood. Hope you’re doing better and taking care of yourself!

And the worst part with ROCD/ HOCD/POCD etc is it feels so real and there’s no checking you can do that is 100% evidence because it’s more abstract. Like I’m not saying that ocd where you’re checking doors are shut etc is easy it must be draining but I think the compulsion is the most difficult aspect where as for the types I mentioned it’s the doubts they feel so real like

I told my therapist how with SOOCD thoughts it’s like they get to a point where they feel so real, that you get urges to act on your thoughts. And it’s really scary. I feel you, the doubts feel so real.

@Tillyyyx Exactly. Sometimes it feels like there’s a different person in my head and I get so scared

@linds💕 It basically is the case like ocd it’s a bully and it’s easy to fall for the tricks our mind plays I think we feel more comfortable with agreeing with the ocd as our brain is wired that way and to rewire our brain to no ocd is uncomfortable and we associate the uncomfortableness with ‘there must be something wrong ‘ when in reality what’s wrong is the ocd ...

Like I somehow feel I’m not being my ‘true self ‘ when I disagree with the ocd thoughts I feel very uncomfortable and like in denial whereas I feel a kind of horrible comfort from the ocd thoughts even though they cause me pain and I know they’re false , I don’t know if you get me ?

I get that so so so much!!! I fear that I’m not being who I’m supposed to be, I fear that the content of my thoughts are who I am and always have been, and I’m just not accepting that. But at the same time after constantly checking and ruminating, it’s twisted the feeling into false comfort. Like I used to be like “hell no” to the thoughts and still sometimes do but then it’s changed it into “what if the relief you get from reassuring yourself is actually relief from the content of your thoughts” it’s so confusing. I I know what you mean definitely!

Yet I can tell it’s so not the case when I read your comment it’s clear it’s the ocd that bothering you ! So much easier when it’s not yourself , that’s why people who don’t go through it can never fully understand the realness of it

Right!! I saw this post earlier of someone who posted something on twitter (you may have seen it) where the person was saying something like “POCD clearly isn’t a real thing, why are you backing them up” or something like that. And it’s like that person just doesn’t understand. The content of our thoughts is the OPPOSITE of what we want!! (No matter how much your mind convinces you that you like it) people who don’t experience this just don’t get it.and I really appreciate the people who do their best to understand.

No I’m fact someone who really liked that thing wouldn’t even care it would just be normal to them ! I know we are not supposed to reassure one another though as it fuels ocd so I guess ERP is the only way to get better ...which sucks cause ERP really scares me ahh

Any one else deal with this? Like from the moment they wake up to the second they fall asleep, the intrusive thoughts are there?

Having a bit of an interesting time lately, feeling like I am on a roller coaster because every day has been a bit different. Yesterday was a pretty good day, my anxiety was low and intrusive thoughts were easier to work past. What I noticed was although anxiety was low, I still felt overwhelmed by thoughts sporadically throughout the evening. This morning I had some intense feelings after waking up, but find myself almost in the same place again. Any tips or tricks that have worked for you on managing through thoughts with low anxiety?

I always feel the most anxiety and dread in the morning. That’s when I start overthinking a lot, and it becomes really hard not to seek reassurance on the internet and so on. What do you all do to ease the morning anxiety a bit?
