I recently started dating this boy. Super sweet and we’re in college. I’ve noticed tho that my ocd is acting up again as it always does in my serious relationships. I’m worried bc sometimes when he txts me he can be dry but Ik that’s just how he is and he’s not always dry but also my brain will tell me he’s mad or leaving when he isn’t and when I ask if he’s mad he always says no but I still think he is. I’m worried this isn’t ocd (clear sign it is) and that I’m ignoring signs. I’m also worried bc I’m seeing him this week since winter break is over and I’m worried I’m not gonna like him in person (even tho we’ve FaceTimed so many times) and worried I won’t be excited to see him. Any thoughts on how to deal? I’ve had rocd for almost 3 years now and b4 they use to be debilitating thoughts and now it’s kind of just a lot of noise in my head and frustrates me.

Hello slothlover, Thank you for sharing this, you are so vulnerable. I have ROCD too and my brain makes relationships a challenge. It is okay to be worried, as I get worried too if anyone texts periods, uses no emojis, or enthusiastic punctuation. Especially if they normally use emojis or exclamation marks. Tell yourself if he was really mad, he would tell you. Also, think about reasons that don't support him leaving you. What evidence shows that he won't leave you? It is valid for you to worry about not being excited to see him. For me, I worry about being awkward and then I become awkward. So what works for me is I own my feeling that I am awkward or I challenge my worry. I hope this helps!
