OCD can and will make you think any and every type of way to keep you in its trap. Also, your OCD knows everything you know so if you are attracted to someone else as well, it will jump on that. Your job to get better is to stop looking for certainty and accept that even your worst fears are possible. Looking for certainty keeps you in its trap

I find a coworker attractive but I am married to my amazing husband whom I love so much but only see the coworker as a friend and then all of a sudden I had thoughts that I don’t love my husband anymore and should be with this guy instead and is causing me intense anxiety. Like I want to quit my job because of it

@Anonymous Thank you. Yeah it’s been super hard. It literally just popped in my head one day and hasn’t left my mind for like 2-3 weeks. I keep going from “nope that’s not true at all it is just anxiety” to “but what if I do??” And then panic attacks. That’s why I needed to know if OCD can make you think that way. I’ve had ROCD before where I didn’t think I loved my husband, but now it’s “do I like somebody else and not my husband?” And driving me absolutely insane. :(

@Anxiousashley But how do you know if ocd/anxiety or real?

@MRR7221 That’s the thing- we really have no way of knowing bc that’s the nature of OCD. It wouldn’t bother us if I didn’t feel so real. How I normally can tell if something is OCD is if it goes against my values (ego-distonic)

I’m 25 and never ever thought this before my soocd relapse. I have a bf of 5 years. Never been a high libido kinda girl. Don’t get me wrong I do get turned on by my bf but not like every day you know? - That had always been in the back of my head, is this normal and ok? But my ocd has latched onto the most scariest what if EVER. My brain is now saying How do you know you won’t prefer to sleep and kiss girls if you haven’t tried it: and it’s that unknown that is scaring the shit out of me. I DONT AND NEVER HAVE wanted to sleep / kiss a girl. But now my intrusive thoughts is all I think about!!! I don’t want I don’t want I don’t want??? So why does my brain think BUT WHAT IF??? I know ocd thrives off uncertainty which is why I think this is happening? But I don’t wanna find out or work it out because all I want is to be with my bf and marry him!! Is this just the epitome of OCD?

I’ve asked this before and got no response but can ocd try to make you feel a certain way that you don’t actually feel? Such as telling you you’re jealous or upset in a situation when you don’t even care or feel that way at all. Can ocd cause you to feel the emotion along with the intrusive thought even though it’s not your true feelings?

Whenever anyone starts to feel like their thoughts are less triggering or they feel a moment of happiness/ relief OCD tells you that you want the thoughts back or you actually like having the thoughts and maybe thats just the person I really am? I feel like im going insane😢
