My therapist thinks that I have been suffering from delusion of guilt (severe depression with psychotic symptoms) because of my moral scrupulosity OCD. Has anyone experienced this as well? Like the lines between OCD and delusion of guilt being blurry.
I've been researching this today, actually, because I know a bit about psychosis. I think I suffer from Real Event OCD as all the symptoms seem to match up but the event is quite extreme & hard to accept. This has all come about due to stress of a bad relationship that had gone sour & having to leave the situation. I feel low & anxious, sometimes panicky, but always anxious. No motivation in life really, I feel an intense guilt if I look towards the future. But outwardly people think I'm fine because I don't want people to start worrying/asking questions. What are your symptoms like with regard to the depression? Are you able to leave the house, self-care, that sort of thing?
Thank you for your answer! When I had the severe depressive episode with psychosis I wasn't able to do anything. But my symptoms have improved a lot and now I am able to take care of myself. Still, my therapist thinks, that I have kind of a mixture between real event OCD and delusion of guilt, mainly because I think that I deserve my depression as a punishment... I'm so sorry that you have to deal with real event OCD... This is horrible. I suffer from intense feelings of guilt as well... And I'm also sorry that you have to hide your symptoms... I hope you feel better soon!!! You are not alone
@Julia150612 Aw that sounds really shitty, but glad to hear you're improving now. Do u think it's possible to have a delusion of guilt & only experience mild to moderate symptoms of depression? My event is just so strange that sometimes I question if that even happened. Probably just wishful thinking because I don't want it to be real but I'm not gonna get any help for it as our health service is screwed. I do think about suicide every day in quite a serious way, I have done for at least a week, possibly longer. It gives me a bit of calm & peace to know that it could possibly all be over soon & I won't have to face it again. Sorry if this is a bit morbid. I've had times where I've felt like this in the past & nothing came of it so don't worry too much. But at the same time nothing really got better. But if I was gonna do anything I wouldn't be sharing.
@Plop I personally think that it is possible to have mild to moderate depression with psychosis. Nevertheless in Germany (I'm german) we only have a diagnosis for severe depressive episode with/without psychosis or mild to moderate depressive episode without psychosis. This confuses me. What you have to go through sounds horrible. Real Event OCD is a terrible illness and without professional help even more difficult to face... (Maybe you could try NOCD therapy?:)) I'm also sorry to hear about your suicide thoughts and the pain you're in. I experienced them as well... Sometimes it helps me to think that there will be a time when we all die (like, in a natural way) so our pain will end, although we don't know when. That makes suicide seem less "necessary". Although you cannot see it yet, I firmly believe that it can get better! Stay alive š You're so strong for fighting such a horrible illness!!!

This is constantly a struggle for me. Idk if itās God correcting me for my past or just ocd making things seem bad that werenāt. I have a constant weight of shame because of gray areas in my life.
Oh I feel the same... I'm so sorry for you!! Have you heard about delusion of guilt before? For me it was the first time when my therapist told me this and I've been wondering why I have never read anything like this before.
Iām currently struggling with guilt from checking OCD. By this I mean, I feel guilty and shameful by my OCD checking because I feel as that was immoral and wrong and I really donāt know what to do. How can I fight this?
Iāve been struggling with religious OCD for the past month or so (blasphemous intrusive thoughts, fear of going to hell, etc). Iām a Christian. Iāve been in ERP and Iām learning to let the thoughts just be which is hard, but Iām struggling with the overwhelming feelings of guilt about having the intrusive thoughts. I know the thoughts arenāt from me and donāt reflect my true self, but sometimes if feels like Iām bringing the thoughts on if that makes sense. Does anyone have any advice on overcoming the guilt? OCD is also telling me Iām never going to get over this and my relationship with God will never be the same. I just want to be able to praise God without all of this and itās making me incredibly sad and lonely. Any words of encouragement are appreciated.
I canāt help but feel so anxious because of guilt. I feel guilty about not sharing everything about my OCD to my partner, but because I understand that confession itself is a compulsion and would not help anyone. I feel so anxious too that if all my fears come true and she finds out, then it would be so devastating for everyone especially her. Does anyone feel the same thing? How could I change my perspective on this?
