Tw: I wish my TikTok wouldn’t be so triggering. Just saw a video of a woman who came out as a lesbian despite being married 8 years to a man and said “the closet was DEEP”. I’m just so scared that’s going to be me. I don’t want it. I’m so scared. Urgh:/ sorry
Ugh good old tik tok it's a huge trigger for me! My therapist says any comparison is a compulsion (I know these videos are hard and triggering though). Imagine the content changing. If there was a video about a serial killer and if that was your content and you started comparing and checking against yourself that would be a compulsion. I known its easier said then done because I struggle too, but try to notice the anxiety and triggers and redirect your focus.

I swear TikTok tries to convince every woman they’re a lesbian. Just because the person in the video was deep in the closet doesn’t mean that every single person is. The “what if” is just a thought. Thoughts do not equal facts. Don’t try to figure it out because ocd wants certainty one way or the other, and sexuality is incredibly tricky, which could leave you stuck in a state of questioning. The questioning isn’t super helpful. The vast majority of people who are gay or straight have similar questioning thoughts but just don’t ruminate on it because it’s not worth it.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way! I understand how this feels, although I personally identify as queer and many of my fears are a bit of the opposite in terms of soocd...I know how uncomfortable it feels but you can handle the uncertainty! You're stronger than your fears
Thank you, it’s so overwhelming sometimes I don’t even mind the idea of being bi or queer but for some reason, the idea of identifying as a lesbian and losing my identity and relationship is the most terrifying thought. I just don’t want to live a lie but “what if”.
trigger warning maybe so idk who knows andrea russett but she’s a youtuber and she just posted a video coming out saying she’s bisexual and it triggered me soooo much. like i’m so scared that i am when i literally have never felt attraction to a girl at all like that. any time i think a girl is pretty i automatically jump to that conclusion now. and i always have to check and look at her butt to see if i’m attracted to it. like social media makes it all worse too. i almost do it out of habit now which makes me hate myself for it bc i’m mistaking it w attraction but when i try to tell myself it’s just ocd my brain tries to twist it into thinking that i’m actually bi!!! it just sucks and i’m so stressed about it
Does anyone find tiktoks about being ‘realising’ they are gay or coming out later in life really triggering? I have SO-OCD and seeing those things makes me question everything so deeply. How do you cope with this please.
Does anyone else think TikTok is the biggest trigger, for all my themes! I also get triggered so much by ‘late bloomers’ I just watched a tik tok of a women who came out later in life and the comment section was full of so many comments like I was married for 10 years, 40 years, 20 years etc and it just triggered me so much I feel like I want to cry, even thought right now I don’t feel like one I’m so scared I’ll realise it later in life or that I’m just hiding it And it brings in so much guilt incase I am because I have a boyfriend and don’t want to ruin his life if later in life I do realise I am
