me too lol. but we can’t rely on compulsions to make us feel better. i think i saw your previous post about birth control (it was super triggering). triggers are bound to constantly appear on tik tok, so i highly recommend deleting it until you can safely use it for exposures with a trained professional. right now, all it is doing is setting yourself and others off into a spiral (which btw, i do not blame you for. you couldn’t help it and it’s okay!). we can’t use compulsions forever to remove anxiety. it will only keep us more attached to the thoughts. focus on where you are right now. not in 5 min or tomorrow or some time in the future. now. what do you see? smell? hear? taste? feel? what’s a nice thing you can do for yourself right now? turn on your favorite show? do some yoga? call a friend as a distraction? we must help ourselves non-compulsively. we can beat this. you are greater than ocd and any subtype💜

Ya that’s why I put trigger warning on that post! I just feel at this point that I don’t have ocd and that I really am in denial. I’m scared

@cc97 right there with ya girl! and i cant speak for you ofc, but i’m sure as someone with ocd you’ve been here before. you’ve felt this same anxiety, you’ve had these same exact thoughts word for word. it’s all familiar, which can be an advantage if you look at it in a more optimistic light. you know where you are and what you’re experiencing, despite how uncomfortable and real it feels. and what do we know about episodes like this?? they ALWAYS pass! sometimes they last minutes, hours, days. no matter what, there is always a beginning and end to these really uncomfortable, yucky intrusive emotions/thoughts/sensations/images/urges. we can always count on that to get us through. continue to take care of yourself! and i feel for me the biggest breakthroughs come when i’m like “wait a min, this sucks but i can handle it. even though it feels real, i know it’s gonna pass and i’m tough enough to sit peacefully while my mind races. let it pass, let go.”

@cc97 you can do this! my heart goes out to you because i too am in a moment of panic. but i’m watching a true crime docuseries and just sitting with it. doubts come through but i’m still here! no one died! the worst consequences we feared haven’t happened!

@cc97 it’s alright! happens allll the time on this app. if anything, i treated it as an exposure. if it makes you feel any better, my best advice for comparison compulsions like that post on tik tok where your brain is liek “what if that’s me?” is to say to yourself— that’s their experience. an individual or group’s experience is unique to them. and i don’t need to check or test or ruminate to prove that i am or am not like them. allow that piece of info or those personal accounts to exist as they are! i’ve been challenging myself to watch coming out as lesbian youtube videos and honestly, the first couple are highly uncomfortable. but i like to treat it as if i’m listening to someone tell the story of how they moved to a new country or their experience water skiing. just a story!

@mostdope42 Major props to you! I hope I can get to that point one day too. Even thinking about watching those videos sends me into a panic

@cc97 that’s why you work up to it! you will totally get there someday! i highly recommend the self compassion workbook for ocd by kimberly quinlan as a self help tool. she recognizes the subtype of SO-OCD and it’s really eye opening. just a thought tho😁 i hope you’re feeling at least a little more calm. exposures are like going on a huge roller coaster that you think you can’t handle and you’re gonna die on, but you jump in line anyway. the seatbelt is your response prevention! it’ll keep you safe non-compulsively! trust me, you can 1000% work up to it.

I want to rip out my uterus. Only my hormones can make my OCD and ability to manage it go back to square one. I am spiraling *so* hard. I cannot breathe. My PMDD is going crazy. I’m having a panic attack again. I feel so scared. The POCD is going absolutely insane right now. It feels undeniably real, and my mind keeps drifting to those awful thoughts and what feels like exploring them?? but I can’t for the life of me stop some of these compulsions right now. I was trying to watch something to get my mind off of this but ended up getting triggered twice, so my anxiety is a 10 and I can’t seem to calm down. This panic attack is tuned all the way up.
