@Buckleberry That is horrible! I am so sorry! If I was him I would probably leave everything I had with me, other then electronics. Then go home and strip before walking in the house, toss the clothes into the trash outside, and then shower for a day. I hope he doesn’t have ocd too, poor guy!!!!!!!!! This is why hotels are horrifying.

Bed bugs have been one of my fears ever since I stayed at a hostel that had them. If you’re feeling concerned about it don’t bring a bag with you to work. Change out of your clothes when you get home and put them in a plastic bag until you can wash them. The heat from the dryer kills them for sure. BUT that is giving in to the anxiety and compulsions. I’ve read many posts of people who work in homeless shelters with bed bugs and have never brought them home, pest control workers who have ever brought them home. They hide during the day and are most likely not going to come out. They don’t jump or fly. People get them in hotels because they stay over night and put their bags directly next to the main hiding place. I’d say taking them home from work would be rare.

Also they are not likely to live on the clothes you wear, or your body. I know when I came into contact with them I was convinced they were living in my hair and would wash and wash my hair and then rinse it with vinegar. But looking back on it, I know that was irrational because they don’t like the warmth of our bodies so they avoid living on or near them.
