Incorrect brain functioning causes OCD. It’s awful, I know. Go see a specialist in CBT/ERP and you’ll find some relief!

I literally was fine. I’m 26 and never had these thoughts until 24ish. I have developed an anxiety disorder and I was fine before. I don’t know what happened

Like I said, find an OCD specialist. Other than that, you can try learning how to meditate, it’s actually helped me a lot. I got the headspace app and I love it. I also recently got The Mindfulness Workbook for OCD by Jon Hershfield and I would recommend that.

I’m 29 and I just developed OCD a few months ago. I’ve been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 years and it came out of nowhere.

Honestly, I started meditating about a month ago and I’m just starting to see a little difference. Meditating should allow you to focus on the present more easily when your brain has ran away with a thought. It’s a re-focus so to speak. My symptoms were never super severe so maybe that’s why it’s seemed to help me already. Is your therapist an OCD expert, because it not it’s probably making your symptoms worse.

Do you have any recommendations on what I can do?

Try not to be so hard on yourself, OCD is hard enough on you.

I have headspace, curable. And been meditating for about a year. I don’t really know if I’m making progress tho. I talk to a therapist and still don’t have any relief. How Long usually does it take for meditation to reword ur brain

No she isn’t. I tried this neurofeedbadk and it hasn’t really helped train my anxious brain. I know what I’m experiencing is HOCD bc the thoughts are repulsive to me and bring anxiety not arousal. But the meditating doesn’t always help

It hasn’t helped because the only thing that can help retrain your brain is exposure and response prevention therapy. It habituates your brain and allows you, over time, to cope with the thoughts because the anxiety greatly decreases. I would try to find an OCD therapist in your area or online that can assist you with the treatment that works.

Do you have any online therapists recommendations?

Kinda depends where you’re located because some states have to be in state therapists. But I do know that Steven Phillipson and Jon Hershfield both do Skype teletherapy.

Isn’t Steven Philip son like $450 a session

He is expensive bc hes good but the clinicians under him are not well trained and poorly supervised. They show up and work there to say they have worked under him to charge huge rates later. Horrible experience there.
