Reassurance
Time for a change. I come on here mostly for reassurance and to feel better for like 5 seconds lol. I’m sick of fighting. I’m deciding to make a change. Today. Now. Who is with me?

You can!!! I’m sure you feel better when you aren’t ruminating or getting reassurance right in the long run?
@Anonnymous So make it a goal to try to delay all compulsions!! I believe in you. Trust in yourself and the diagnosis of ocd. I know it’s so hard to think this is ocd but we got to give ocd credit here and trust our professionals who have diagnosed us.
@Anonnymous I have moments, but it’s hard as heck. I’m just moving towards my values. I want this life with my fiancé so I’m going to fight like hell to keep it. The amount of “proof” I have is devastating but ocd is the ring leader right now and I’m just done listening.
@OCD33 Proof doesn't matter. All that matters is how you feel today. What do you want? Move towards that and accept all thoughts and feelings as they come. All we have is today, right now. Not the past, and not the future. I promise you that I totally get it, but it's important to remember that all we have is right now. It's a shame we waste so much time on this--on all this stuff that ultimately does not matter. Look at people around us without ocd. They aren't sweating any of it, and we know they have 'proof' or experiences that aren't that different from us. Or maybe not. Who knows. Keep going. We got this. 💪
@Mke Thank you so much. How did you overcome your ocd? You seem very confident and I hope to get there!!
@OCD33 I'm not completely over it yet to be honest, but I've made huge strides. You have to do the hard work--as in, not give into it. These really are just thoughts. And honestly, life is so short to be spend any more time than we have to on this disorder. It's f'ing hard. I know. But you deserve to feel free. We hear over and over to live according to our values. That isn't just something nice someone thought to tell people with ocd one day. It's actual therapy and it works. What do you want right now? Have an answer? Now go live life according to that answer. Without compulsions, mainly reassurance seeking and ruminating. Just live. Just be present and live. One way or another, we all end up where we want to be. And if today you don't want to be with anyone other than your fiancé, than you go be with your fiancé. And be present for every moment. And also, be patient! Ocd is traumatic, it takes time for your brain to recalibrate. Trust the process, and I mean actually trust it. People without ocd fair well with these thoughts/topics. They don't need all the reassurance and rumination to feel confident, so why do we? We can choose a different behavior. It's so so hard, but so worth it. I honestly believe you'll be back here helping people on this app one way or another! You got this!
@Mke Thank you so much. Funny how ocd is like ask her questions about her ocd to see if you relate lol? That’s where my mind went. What a sick disorder to be constantly stuck in this loop. To be constantly seeking reassurance. I also read the “you’ll be back in this app one way or another helping others” triggered me like omg she thinks I’m in denial. Do you have any tips for staying out of rumination? I get married in 2 months so it’s now or never because I can’t and won’t feel like this forever. Thank you again for being so kind.
@OCD33 I didn't mean to imply that but that's definitely your ocd talking! Lol. I just typed that so quick, no real intentions other than I hope you find yourself in a place (and I think you will) where you're able to be the one encouraging others and helping others through this. Rumination is so automatic. You have to catch it and focus on something else. Be present. Keep yourself busy. And really have a f*ck it attitude. Life is too short. Enjoy your days as best as you can!
