@Someonepleasehelp You already know your answer, you just wanted a friendship with this person and OCD is trying to convince you otherwise. It knows you value your identity and friendship, and if this were real, it wouldn’t bother you so much. Don’t try to figure it out, just let it be and eventually the feeling will subside

@blazed I’m trying to but it feels like a literal memory, I want to let go of it but I feel like it’s a huge threat to my identity and that it changed me

@Someonepleasehelp Remember, thoughts and feelings aren’t facts and they don’t define you. I know it’s difficult :( the more you analyze, the more you’ll doubt yourself. It’s in the past, if it happened it happened.

@blazed Yeah your right I guess if it happened it happened although I see it as a literal change to my identity and feel like I’m risking what I love (women) but thank you hopefully we recover with the amount of peace we deserve💙

@Someonepleasehelp You’re welcome! 🤍 I agree with you, it feels very real. If it makes you feel better, I was certain my sexuality changed but now I’m recovering and I feel like my old self again. If you’re this worried, it’s OCD. Recovery takes time but you’ll get there

@blazed You say thoughts and feelings are not facts right what about before hocd ? Do they mean facts or not? Also here I’ll tell you my false memory with “detail” here goes, so the “memory” is that I was hanging out with my friends then all of the sudden I just got a strange feeling it wasn’t a feeling of desire but it was more of just a blind feeling for my friend but that feeling only occurred that one time and it never came back . Doesn’t make sense right ? My hocd is telling me that I “had” feelings for my friend because of that .

@Someonepleasehelp Yes, even before your OCD the same thing applies. Thoughts and feelings don’t necessarily mean anything, it’s just a natural response to a situation. And about your false memory, you’re right it doesn’t make sense but of course it won’t since OCD isn’t logical. OCD suffers know their thoughts are irrational but can’t use logic solve it because it creates more doubt and anxiety. OCD will use insignificant memories like yours as “evidence” to prove that your fears are right when in reality it means nothing. It’s weird how it works

@blazed Yeah no I’m sorry if I bothered I’m just so distressed by everything and “evidence” makes me feel like I lost everything and my sense of identity, thank you so much blazed you deserve the best you truly do

@Someonepleasehelp Oh no need to apologize, I’m happy to help and I appreciate that sm 😭. I know it really does feel that way 🙁 I suggest you practice mindfulness, it helped me cope with the thoughts better and it doesn’t bother me as much. So if I can do it, so can you! I have a bunch of real event/false memory and there is one that I remember I got in the middle of a horrible episode and I believed it was false but now I can’t remember why I thought it was false and now believe it could be real and it’s just bothering me so much because I want to remember the details to why I believed it was false in the first place and I’m just in a horrible spot and feel disgusting and am getting intrusive thoughts on my themes when I try to check if they are intrusive or not and I can’t function like i don’t wanna be around anyone because all I want to do is confess but I can’t because then I’ll obsess on confessing and they won’t understand.

any advice for when you get false memories that feel really real? especially something that had JUST happened, it’s like ur brain distorts it. i feel like i do something wrong 24/7 then i get over it and ocd latched onto something new
