reprogramming your brain
it’s so weird to realize you have ocd and have to re-contextualize everything you’ve ever learned about your brain. we’re taught that our thoughts and feelings and dreams are reflections of our secret desires, and to suddenly be immersed in a community that says again and again, “your thoughts are just thoughts. your feelings are just feelings. only actions represent who you are” is so strange. it definitely makes me feel better because i used to take every negative intrusive thought and feeling so so seriously, but it’s hard to reprogram years of learning into this new ocd philosophy i’m being taught. i guess that’s why i still feel the instinct to take every thought so seriously even now
