Struggling with ROCD and fear of breaking up after 12 years; need help!

Sit with that anxiety. Sit with it. Run towards it. It’s the ONLY way out. You running away from it intensifies it. Stop trying to force your intrusive thoughts and feelings out. Just because you thought it, or felt it, doesn’t it make it reality.

It's OKAY I've been there and still struggle with it... but I've realized it's a fact we have feelings but feelings aren't fact. Whenever I'm uncomfortable for WHATEVER reason, my mind attaches onto things I love and tries to blame it. For me my mind decided that I'm not happy in life so it must be my boyfriend (who is super supportive and would never hurt a fly). It got to the point I'd get sick around him, so nervous, guessing and checking my feelings. Blah blah blah it's a never ending loop until you stop letting the thoughts have such a hard hold of you... also one thing to consider that helps me. People fall out of love, people feel indifferent about their partners sometimes. Those butterfly feelings or even warm feelings sometimes isn't even there and that's OK. The good news is, if it's a relationship worth fighting for (which showing your concern means it IS) then you can work on falling back in love. The brain gets bored, that's normal. After 12 years I'm sure things have settled and maybe gotten pretty predictable. There's a comfort to that, but sometimes your brain doesn't crave comfort, it wants NEW, FUN, EXCITING. Basically our brains are looking for that happy chemical release. Once you realize that, and realize love isn't like the Hollywood movies, it gets alot easier. You fell out of love.. congrats, it's normal. Now work on trying new things, experimenting, eye contact, active listening and building up a new kind of love that will last years to come. It's okay. Also keep in mind, what I said above I'd of course if it's not just ocd attacking your mind. If it is, then at least you know and start working on that. Hope this helps 🙏

Yes! I have got through this. You WILL be ok. Hang in there. Remember that OCD laches onto the things you care about most, your relationship. Stay strong and let the thoughts be there without trying to make them go away. YOU GOT THIS❤️❤️❤️

Make a loop tape of a break up letter. Sounds crazy but write it, listen to it, and repeat. You may have to start smaller if you can’t do that right now. Sit with the uncomfortable feelings. Feelings are temporary and they will pass. Even if it doesn’t feel like it. Some days I’ll have a flare up but other days I don’t have a thought. Complete 180 from a year ago. You can do this. You can do hard things.

i get you. i’m 12 and i’m in a relationship. it’s hard because i try to break us up all the time because i self sabotage sometimes. i like to think that if I push people away and it ends up not working out then since i pushed them away it will hurt less. but it never does. do whatever you feel is necessary. If you really want to break up with them to do it. I’m sorry I’m not really good at giving advice :(
