Is it possible to experience arousal to an intrusive image during sex? It’s so hard cuz I always get nervous having sex because the intrusive images will be there so I try to not think about it but then it pops in and then I feel arousal to it. Why does this happen sometimes? It really feels like I’m turning into what I fear? It’s so real.
I think that is possible (just as you can feel aroused when in reality you meet someone who you find sexually attractive. Having said that, I think that is not the issue here. The issue is how you approach those intrusive images and the feelings you associate with them. If i say to you that in the next ten minutes, you are allowed to think of anything, except for green elephants, would you be able to NOT think of green elephants? They would pop up in your mind quite often I would bet. So, the more shame you attach to your thoughts and feelings, and the more you forbid yourself to think and to feel them, the more it will pop up. And the more you avoid the situations in which you are afraid that they pop up, the more they will if you do engage in the situation. So, be mild to yourself. It's ok that they pop up. Its just thoughts and feelings for which you can not be judged. They mean nothing, and they say nothing about your love for your partner, or who else you are having sex with. Also, being relaxed with the insecurity of you were actually aroused or not, also takes out the venom. Exposing yourself to your insecurities, yet not engaging with them, is crucial when it comes to how you relate with, and deal with your ocd. Enjoy your sexuality and don't attach any value to it if an images pops up. Talk about it, because shame only flourishes in the dark, and you are not alone (i can tell from personal experiences). Personally I’ve never had sex before or had any sexual contact with anyone ( mainly because I’m 16 ) ANYWAYS I’m not a professional but I think you’re not turned on due to your thoughts but because you’re engaging in sexual activity with someone. You’re already turned on enough BY the sex, thus might make you think you’re feel arousal to a thought due to already having a high arousal levels. ❤️❤️❤️
@dreaminofyouhs Agree to what this person is saying but it is also possible to experience physical arousal to an intrusive thought. It’s called genital non concordance. It doesn’t mean you like or are into the thought by any means, much the opposite actually. It can happen if you’re especially afraid that it will happen, ironically enough. It’s especially relevant if you have that type of trauma and the intrusive thought is related to that trauma in some way, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be from that nor do you need to have SA related trauma to have this type of ocd. Physical and emotional arousal are not always connected, one can occur without the other.

Last night I was self pleasuring. I didn’t set out to think about anything weird but as I was doing it some pocd thoughts were in my brain. I did not get off to them, but I could have. Idk why that is but it is. Idk what to do and idk why I am this way. Is there some science about the brain while aroused or is it possible that the more gross or taboo something is I can like it?? Idk, just want to know if anyone can relate.
I need advice for intrusive thoughts. I used to feel like I could handle them. They weren’t nearly as bad as the things that related to my actual life. But now, I’m suffering. I haven’t had a sexual experience in over a year that didn’t involve constant intrusive thoughts. Most are somehow related to kids and I keep chasing off the thoughts but it’s so bad. I know you’re supposed to ignore them but I don’t know how I can just ignore that and continue what I’m doing. But they’re coming on stronger. I had one earlier I could not get rid of just as things finished so the thought came on strongly just before my orgasm hit and now I feel absolutely disgusting. I hated the thought and I know it’s not me and it was not enjoyable but it still feels like I was getting off to it. I feel sick. I’m so fucking tired of these thoughts. They’re in my every day life too and it’s all the time. I just want it to stop but ignoring it feels so wrong. What should I do?
I was having intimacy. Watching p0rn. And during climax i got intrusive thoughts a d anxious. I hate when this happens. As a compulsion whenever i get intrusive ocd thoughts i usually think of my wife or therapist (whose a man) and say their name. For my wife its because shes the love of my life. My comfort. And during intimacy of course to arouse over her. When i think of my therapist its not anything sexual its just like a comforting thought since hes the one that is helping me thru ocd. But now ocd is saying why did i think lf him during climax. And in my head i heard my voicr saying his name but this was my way of distracting myself from the intrusive thoughts. It wasnt to arouse myself over him it was tk distract myself and it wasnt a compulsion. Ocd tries associating it with my sexual experience and its making me feel very guilty and anxious. Then i worry was i saying his name. I did in my head but it wasnt again a compulsion tk distract from ocd. Then that made me anxious so i said my wifes name and thougjt kf her. I just had intrusive thought so i panicked and out of compulsive habit i usual say thr name of my wifr and therapist
