My counselor doesn't believe I have ocd because it's mostly mental compulsions. She also tells me to distract myself from my ocd as much as possible even tho I don't think your supposed to do that. She also thinks it's adhd (which I don't hwvr) I'm pretty sure imaging r#p3 and your s/o being brutally murdered isn't adhd. Thanks for nothing though I guess. It's just so hard because everyone doubts me.
Hang in there, I’ve been through 2 therapists and 1 ocd specialist, and I am still struggling. We’ll get there. Don’t give up trying to find someone who can help you recover.

@Drew777 I had one and then he recently resigned, while also claiming something bad about NOCD. Now I’m confused if I still trust people here, but… I don’t know, it happened so suddenly right after my 3rd session last week. I really need help and this is the best I can find right now. The other therapists have still been helpful in a way because I probably have depression and anxiety as well, I believe this OCD has also been triggered or deeply rooted from something, but I find that their methods were not addressing the obsessions and compulsions I’ve been doing and it’s been interfering with my life. I needed a more structured session, having a good diagnosis and an actual treatment plan for me, and see that they actually care. My old therapists made me feel like they only care about me within the 60 minutes of session (one therapist didn’t even say hi to me when we were in the same bathroom, it was kind of awkward, but I guess I get it they want to set that boundary between them and their client) but I also feel like getting kicked out quick when our time is almost out, without even getting much tips or advice or even an understanding about myself and how and why my mind is working the way it is now. The assignments I get are meditation and “do this or don’t do that” or without any practical and specific tips. No tools to help me, literally just advices and prompt questions. I’m hoping my next therapist on NOCD can help me. It’s a bit tiring to start over again with a new therapist.
@SofiaLovedAndHealed I'm sorry your NOCD therapist said this app was bad. I assume if he resigned it was his personal problem with the app (maybe with pay or hours or somthiny) hopfully that doesn't discourage you.
@SofiaLovedAndHealed I'm sorry your previous therapist has caused you to question your trust in this community. :( That doesn't seem right that they're not addressing the obsessions and compulsions, that's one of the most important things they should be addressing. And I know what you mean about therapists only caring about you during the session, it seems to be a problem amongst therapists and counselors I think. I feel like your therapist should at least be able to look you in the eye and "hi, how are you today?". I'm sorry your therapist isn't giving you more practical or specific advice to help you with your OCD. It does sound very tedious and tiring to deal with. I hope and pray your next therapist will be able to help you in a way that really makes a big impact in teaching you about your OCD and yourself so you can get to a place where you feel happy again and your managing your OCD well. :)

No unfortunately I'm only a teen and can't offord it. The counseling I do now is free.
I've gotten counseling and was told something similar, but I was still very thankful because it's helped my anxiety strongly. I'm sorry that you got told this and feel denied. Don't feel bad and don't give up. If you try to get therapy through NOCD (if it's available where you are) you will have a better time. I'm not sure if counselors can diagnose you off of guesses though. That I think is a bit off. Please don't lose hope though. This community will always try its best to help and be here for you :)
Yeah she can't give diagnosises because she's a counselor not a therapist or Psychiatrist that's what pisses me off. She's a youth worker with no credentials to tell me what *she* thinks I have. I went too a doctor who told me I have ocd so I don't know what gives her the right to tell me it's adhd not ocd. Hopfully when I'm older I'll be able to afford better therapy or an NOCD therapist. @Nye.em Yeah, I thought something was off with that. I've seen people bring up similarities with ADHD and OCD but they are not the same. For her to not only say that it's ADHD and to dismiss OCD like that is kinda insulting, not gonna lie. Your doctor sounds like they know more than what she thinks. Since you're a minor, why don't you ask your parents for help? You can try to get their support on this and that can get you somewhere.
@BigGip09 I have asked for there support, but they don't like the idea of online counsling. The counsling I'm doing now is free and this is all they claim they cam afford :(

Yeah, Falconlives is right. If you get a therapist on this NOCD app you are sure to get someone who knows OCD and will give you correct advice.

She laughed and said that everyone has these thoughts "i didn't tell her about the REALLY fucked up thoughts i experience cuz i was kinda scared" and then she said it's the demon just say ur prayers and they'll go away Even though i kept on trying and trying to convince her that they're clearly not normal but she kept on refusing and it kinda sounded like she didn't want to admit and believe that her daughter has a mental illness which sucks
My symptoms are clear as day and they literally have disrupted every single thing in my life but I ask for help and they tell me to just change ,stop doing that,stop being weird,or they tell me it's in my head Im going crazy here and I don't know what to do.some one please if you have any advice id love to hear it Thank you.
just been to therapy and i was explaining my contamination ocd and says i don’t diagnose ocd but this doesn’t seem severe enough? so now im spiralling am i just lying to myself and im just a freak. does she mean my other ocds aren’t real either? i’m just honestly so upset. need advice please im just spiralling so much i take medication for ocd and basically have every symptom and subtype of ocd:(
