Breathing obsession
Was falling asleep next to my partner and suddenly felt afraid that my breathing was too slow compared to his. I started counting my breaths and then googling how many breaths a person should take in a minute. Then I kept tracking my blood oxygen level on my Apple Watch. Now I’m just sitting in bed obsessing over my breathing and trying not to control it. I know that the counting and googling and tracking are compulsions and I can make myself not do them— it’s the intense focus on physical symptoms that is so hard to break.
