Laid off

I work for Warner Bros. Discovery and I got laid off as a result of the recent merger between Warner Media and Discovery. Just two days ago I was prepping to get promoted and now my boss was blind-sighted and had to lay off most of my team. We luckily have until end of January plus a severance package but it still is upsetting. I had a full on panic attack and cried hysterically on the zoom call and my boss and HR tried to do breathing exercises with me. I wasted money on take out and alcohol today because I’m so angry. On top of all the personal and financial problems in my life, this doesn’t help.

I’m so so sorry this happened to you… I can’t imagine how horrible it must feel for you rn… just know, from my own personal experience, that whenever there’s a down, there will always be an up for you. Your skills and qualifications will carry on to better jobs and better companies who will gladly love and support you for who you are and how you live. And unlike me, who hates himself constantly and wants to just unlife myself because of my personal life and OCD subtypes, you have so much potential and life ahead of you as a human being. So please put your head up and love yourself. Because I care about you. And this community does too…

@Givenup Please don’t feel like u want to unlife yourself. I feel that way sometimes too. But you are loved and wanted and we all have a purpose in this world. Thank u for the kind words. Change is just hard for me. I was getting comfortable the past 3 years in my role and bonding with colleagues, plus corporate benefits. With my debt and a traumatic breakup in February, it feels like my whole life is falling apart. But I’m trying to see the blessing in disguise. Maybe I’m meant for something else.

Wherever there's a will, there's a way. You have lots of potential in you as well my friend. Keep fighting, never stop fighting for a better tomorrow, both of you. Sounds suuuuper cheesy but it's sayings like that that I find to be really helpful, especially with such engrossing cases of OCD.

@flaskofwhiskey Your meant for something greater. That’s what this means. Your going to join a company that cares and loves for you. Who know your value and worth you can place in this world. Trust me. I have POCD, HOCD, and real events OCD based on the two… it’s been a never ending slope for me… combined with the girl I like ignoring me, even though we hung out the day before, and being in college without any mental health support, I’m still going lower. So please. Even if I have no hope in myself, I have so much hope for you.

@flaskofwhiskey Here's a saying that I have: "Every misstep is a step in the right direction." Everything that happens to us, good or bad, happens for a reason, and sets us on the right path we need to take in life. It seems bad now, but there's always a light at the end of the long dark tunnel.

@Givenup I had no mental health help in college and I drank and partied my way to escape. Im 29 now and nearly an alcoholic. I have hope for u as well. You arent alone. I’ve gone through so much trauma even after college. I was working two jobs and wanted to make easy money so a friend suggested a sugar daddy site. I was sexually abused, not paid or dated as promised, and I’m forever traumatized. I’ve had exes bring up my past and say I’m not worthy of being a wife, so I’m terrified of dating and can’t shake this lack of of self worth like I don’t deserve love and happiness. Im not a gold digger, I just wanted to get out of debt so when I meet the right person I’m secure. Because of my ocd I feel the need to confess my past even tho everyone says I don’t need to. I just feel bad and want to be open with my partner. Im terrified of dating men now thinking I’ll be rejected because of past narc abuse rubbing it in my face. I feel worthless.

@flaskofwhiskey You aren’t what your toxic no-good-for-nothing exes say about you. You are a bright, intelligent, kind hearted woman. And you will do great things! I mean you got to work for Warner Bros! The company that made my childhood! You have that skill to push through! And I don’t know what your going through with your trauma. And I don’t feel as though my condolences would be enough to erase your pain. But know this. You are good enough. You are good enough for this world. Hell, your better than this world because despite your suffering and hardship, you still maintain your kindness and generosity. And that makes you so much better than these evils in the world that want to tear you down. You are better than your trauma. You are not your past. You are you. And the you I see, deserves to be loved.

Diagnosed with mild hearing loss…

I’ve been a bit of wreck this whole day. Today, I went to an ENT appointment I set up to address potential hearing loss issues that I have been experiencing for a while now. The result of that was the diagnosis of bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (mild hearing loss in both ears). I’ve been ruminating and catastrophizing all day today cause I feel like my world is crumbling (despite me knowing that I could still live a fruitful life). I’m not afraid of losing my hearing per se, but rather, the implications of it and how drastically my life will change. I won’t be able to make music and films the same way anymore, or enjoy it like I used to. I won’t be able to work day jobs that require me to use hearing. Without financial security, I won’t be able to take care of myself. I’d to get to rekindle my appreciation and knowledge of ASL cause I think it’s a useful skill, but I’m just really anxious. I’ve already been struggling a lot due to other factors in my life, and I find myself thinking about death pretty often, but I have no desire to die. It just seems like the only escape. I’m very scared and full of grief. I want to resolve all this conflict now, cause I feel a giant sense of urgency but I can’t. That’s what’s killing me right now. I know I can’t solve it all, and a big factor of OCD is being okay with uncertainty, but I can’t fathom that. I’m so frustrated and I’m tired of suffering. I just want my physical and mental health intact.

Feel slapped in the face…..

So having not even made headway yet with sessions with my latest therapist (not NOCD) she has just left me hanging saying I’ve got too anxious and I need to increase my Remeron before she continues with me and won’t even give me a date to start again……… I don’t really want to increase my meds as it was what she was saying to me in therapy that upset me, or is it really supposed to get worse before it gets better? My career that I worked so hard for is literally hanging by a thread and her doing this to me means I have to stay off work longer and I’m just really upset by her actions and the potential knock on effects of this 😢

I'm tired...

I’ve been spiraling since a workplace incident last Thursday. I had an uncomfortable and tense interaction with a colleague, and it triggered a lot of obsessive rumination. I spent the whole weekend crying, panicking, and replaying everything that happened. Today, I went back to work — and it was really hard. Everyone acted like nothing happened. They joke with him, treat him normally, even though he bullied me and I’m just… sitting there. I didn’t greet him, and he didn’t greet me. I kept to myself, answered questions when I had to, but didn’t socialize. Now I feel scared. Like I’m walking on eggshells. I keep thinking: “What if I say something wrong?” “What if I make a mistake and they say, ‘You see? She’s the problem’? Acting holier than thou & she's a bigot too!" I know this is partly my OCD and trauma talking, but it feels so real. Like I’m one wrong move away from being blamed or alienated. I’ve even started eating lunch in my car to feel safe. I’m trying so hard to hold boundaries, stay professional, and protect my peace. But I’m exhausted. I feel like a shell of myself and I’m scared I’ll break. I was already a little on eggshells cause most of my colleagues say or do something bigoted every now & then...my bigotry ocd is always scared that when I don't confront them. I'm condoning it & becoming them. I'm exhausted. I want to work remotely so I can stay isolated from people. I don't think I'll ever heal from this. I feel like this incident is one of those that permanently changes you. Like when my parents & siblings says I'm not the same anymore. I'm more panicked etc.
