Guilt is one of the bigger things that keep us locked into our OCD. Our subtypes can give us so much guilt and shame and make us feel as if we compulsively try to solve it, that we will eventually be free of the thoughts. It’s important to take the time to recognize that your guilt is a trick through your OCD to make you question your reality. Having core values at these times are important because you can remember that your OCD might be sticky in these moments because it’s making you question the kind of person you are. Maybe you value being a good person, so OCD is locking in. Take this time to remember that OCD isn’t reality.

This is called “meta-ocd” which is doubting your diagnosis. OCD is the doubting disease, so of course you may even begin to doubt your diagnosis. Why? Because if it’s not ocd then you truly must be a pedo. So your POCD is using that fear to even begin to doubt the OCD label. There is no concrete way to prove whether you have it or not. But people have created a set of symptoms that are associated with OCD. Because mental illnesses are really just an umbrella of a plethora of complex symptoms, rumination over the diagnosis itself is not helpful. As for the guilt aspect, it is a normal human emotion. Your OCD is using the emotion of guilt to bully you. I don’t wanna give you reassurance so I will stop here but just know you deserve love and kindness.

I’m currently struggling with guilt from checking OCD. By this I mean, I feel guilty and shameful by my OCD checking because I feel as that was immoral and wrong and I really don’t know what to do. How can I fight this?

I'm struggling with pocd it feels very real and I'm at a point where I feel I need to go to confess to the police stuff I know I haven't done but have false memories of doing and I feel like nobody thinks like this and very alone.

I am 15 years old and my POCD feels like its not POCD, i feel like i like my intrusive thoughts, but i have more intrusive thoughts about having intrusive thoughts, and i feel like i cant enjoy the things i normally enjoy anymore, like calling with my girlfriend and joking with her because this is still in the back of my mind, its making me question morals and if i ever even viewed P as completely wrong and i hate this so much, i love my nieces and nephews and when they're over i know id never do anything with my intrusive thoughts but when they arent present i feel like i like my thoughts. Before this i was dealing with HOCD and ROCD and i wish i could go back to that
