My boyfriend and I got in a disagreement that triggered me to start having bad thoughts again and obviously couples argue. But in my head it's like " no couple should argue. Maybe it's not right" On top of that he's taking a trip back home for a week. & I keep thinking ā thatās too long. When he comes back you wonāt like him anymore ā
Itās normal for a couple to argue, thatās proves that you love each other. For instance, me and my gf are Italian. You know how we italians are. We fight about some things, then a half hour later we hug and kiss and tell each other sorry and that we love each other to the end. Your OCD is a demon that tricks you into these things. The same things happened to me. When they come just say, āGet away Satanā. Say it repeatedly and slowly until you feel better. When it comes back do it again. The enemy will use your OCD as fuel, so put out the fire

While anthonycaronna is right in that OCD can be insidious and use the things you love against you, it isn't right to just "banish" the thoughts; when we try to force intrusive thoughts away, they persist because we are giving them attention. It's like having your finger stuck in a Chinese finger trap; the more you try to pull away, the harder it gets. Instead, you need to aknowledge that anything can happen, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Actually, /especially/ when it makes you uncomfortable. Recovering from OCD means being comfortable and accepting of the fact that nothing in life is guaranteed, things are unknown, and we are humans can/are allowed to change. Honestly, the way I've started to recover from ROCD is aknowledging that maybe I won't be with my long term boyfriend forever, or maybe I will, but regardless I will be ok in the end.
@Anonymous Thatās true! But the more you focus on those thoughts, the more they wear you down and the more likely itās gonna happen. I believe in the LOA thatās why I say that

Iām off on holiday with my boyfriend for our first trip away together on Friday. I should be really excited (and a small part of me is) but another part is worried this might be the thing that pushes me over the edge and into ending the relationship. From past experience with friends, I get quite irritable and just switch off. Does anyone have any similar experiences and how did you deal with them? Iām also no longer āwhat if-ingā- just statements āyou donāt love himā, āthis is overā and last night got some physical ādroppingā sensations in my stomach which made these thoughts feel real. Iāve found him generally really annoying this weekend which has made me sad because really, heās not done anything. I had such fight and determination in me 2 months ago that my relationship was what I wanted but now Iām really struggling to feel this. Tips?

After so many months of stress and rumination I just donāt even feel like that crazy about my boyfriend anymore. I feel super distant and just like put off. I have been ruminating for hours though at this point. I hope I can just chill and stop worrying. When I think about living without him I start to cry though. Sos guys lmao
