Hi guys, i started taking zoloft 25 mg, i took my third dose last night. i felt horrible and barely slept. i want to stop taking them so bad cause i feel like crap but would anything happen to me if i just stop taking them after 3 pills? Or maybe I should continue to take them and stick it out :( i just hate the discomfort. can someone share their experience or give some advice
I've been on a lot of different antidepressants. Everyone of them has made me feel horrible sometimes soon after taking them; but it has always passed quickly. I've come to accept that that is how you know they're working š. Seriously, it should pass so hang in there. I wouldn't worry too much unless you continue being sick or they make your symptoms worse. If that happens, contact your doctor immediately. They will likely put you on something different.
@Daniel Moyer thank you. how far in to taking them does it usually get better? :( after the third pill i got no sleep, i have slight naesea, chills, and iām very tired
I felt like this when I was on Lexapro, it was terrible. The best thing to do is take your doctorās advice in the meantime and follow up with them as soon as possible. I hope you feel better soon :( ā¤ļøāš©¹

@Anonymous I stopped it. I couldnāt see my psychiatrist earlier enough bc sheās very booked, so I went to my GP and she tapered me off of it and I felt so much better
@blazed how long did you take it before you stopped it?
@Anonymous I canāt remember exactly, but I think about 3-4 months? After I came off of it I think I started Zoloft or Wellbutrin a month or so after.

@blazed did you have the initial side effects that i have ? :( iāve only taken 3 of them
@Anonymous I didnāt with Zoloft, but I immediately had those side effects with the first pill on lexapro š„² I waited it out but it didnāt go away. So if youāre still continuing to feel that way too, itās important to contact your doctor as soon as you can.

Hi! First off I do not want to scare you lol. In late march I was prescribed the same dosage of Zoloft. I took it for about 3 weeks and toward the end of the 3 my mom noticed I had been depressed (I didnāt know I had ocd at the time and I thought it was just my generalized anxiety). My Mom and I assumed it was the Zoloft causing everything bad because she said something which caused me to have a flare up. So we decided to cut cold turkey because we didnāt think anything bad would happen and we Called the doctor but no one got back to us. 4 days later boom my flare up came back in full swing. Cutting it abruptly caused this horrid flare up even though it was only 3 weeks and a low dosage. because I didnāt know I had OCD, we assumed i had bad withdrawal symptoms which I did but stopping also made my ocd worse. Please do not stop unless you can consult with your physician first! Apparently the Zoloft was starting to help me, but I cut it off before it could even take full affect because I thought it was the wrong one for me, but Iāll never really know!
@Peaches1127 thanks a lot for the advice!! was the zoloft really making you more depressed? i have ocd and depression, yesterday it was making me really emotional. iāll definitely try to call my doctor and ask about what i should do
@Anonymous I hadnāt really been depressed beforehand, so I was confused. My mom said she had noticed a shift in my mood and my bubbliness for the weeks I had been taking it but she forgot I was on it. I didnāt notice it but looking back I always had random depressive mood swings due to intrusive thoughts! I hadnāt been really having any intrusion on the meds but I was down more than usual. They always say antidepressants have adverse affects the first few weeks, but I just assumed it wouldnāt do anything at all because they told me it would take 6 weeks to build up and that was all the info I was given.

@Anonymous hydroxizine! Itās not an SSRI itās in the Benadryl family. It just calms me down/ quells the anxiety kinda but it doesnāt make me sleepy anymore like it did when I was taking it 2 years ago at 17!
@Peaches1127 okay! zoloft has been my first med so far for this. itās so upsetting that we have to go through this :(
@Anonymous it really is! today I feel fine but my thoughts are making me want to crawl back into bed so badly but I refuse because I know it will only be worseš
@Peaches1127 the zoloft has like removed my thoughts i have like no inner dialogue (after only 3 pills š) kinda freaks me out and another reason i want to stop taking them lol but idk if this feeling fades
@Anonymous omg. I think I understand what you mean. It kind of feels like you canāt think really or like you canāt fight back? Or are almost numb which is terrifying and only amplified because you canāt feel or think it?
@Peaches1127 yep! very numb. itās weird and i think iād take the ocd and depression than feeling like a zombie like how i feel now (but once i spiral again, iāll be missing being a zombie lol) ugh, iām so indescisive. since iām only 3 pills in idk if iād withdrawal so i feel under pressure to make the decision on continuing or just stopping
@Anonymous yes! When Iām in the numb itās like Iād rather be able to feel than do this depersonalized crap but then when I go back itās like maybe Iād rather be numb itās so confusing! Definitely try to get feedback before anything but do not feel pressured at all! Itās very hard when you donāt have all the information:(
@Peaches1127 were you experiencing the depersonalization on the zoloft or do you currently experience that now? yeah part of ocd is being uncertain and i know itās my ocd making me obsess over this right now lol
@Anonymous i mostly felt overwhelmingly sad/confused? I experience it now a lot because I get so confused when I try to use logic to fend off thoughts then that doesnāt work so itās like foggy
@Peaches1127 yes that foggy feeling is very understandable ugh itās just horrible :( i wish this disorder didnāt exist.

Okay, so Iāve always been reluctant to try meds, but I finally did and tried 50mg of fluvoxamine for 4 days. It made me 100x worse in a matter of 2 days. I was told to give it a month but I couldnāt. I literally was paralyzed with fear and I didnāt sleep those 4 days I took them. I also got this weird side effect where I see like a floater in the corner of my eye and it doesnāt go away. It started right after I stopped taking fluvoxamine cold turkey. Now, I was prescribed 25mg of Zoloft. Iām terrified to take it. But I feel like I need to start taking meds because my ocd is becoming so unbearable and I need some peace. Tell me your experiences. Did you feel like SSRIs really were a life saver? This might sound like Iām asking for reassurance, but I genuinely want to read some peoples experiences before I give it another go.
Hey! So last night I started taking 25mg of Zoloft. And today I feel better! (Thank Heavens) SO FAR, there has been no side effects. Is that normal? Should I brace myself? Is the worst yet to come? Is it just a placebo effect? Iāve had this medicine sitting in my cabinet for a month because I have been scared to take it. Some of the rare side effects is almost too much for my anxiety to handle. The uncertainty of it all is scary. For those who have taken SSRIs/Zoloft before, what was the first 2 weeks like?
I was just prescribed zoloft but after looking online at common side effects, iām very hesitant about the medication. iāve never taken any sort of SSRI and am very nervous, iām already having some negative side effects. has it helped anyone had a good experience on it or has any advice?
