I’m so sorry, I know it’s very upsetting. Pls remember that her story doesn’t mean the same thing will happen to you. Everyone’s journey is different and while I know it’s hard not to compare yourself, it’s only going to make you spiral and feel worse. It triggered me a bit too but keeping in mind that possibility ≠ probability helps. I promise you will be okay, you’re much stronger than you think ❤️

@ocdhelplol Honestly I have no idea. It is egodystonic but perhaps things like this can happen bc it’s not impossible, but it doesn’t mean it’s likely either. This is just one case out of thousands of people so don’t take it as factual evidence to prove your theme is real

@Anonymous Stoppp this made my entire day 😭🩷 and I’m doing ERP therapy outside of NOCD bc they don’t take my insurance, but I’m in the process of recovering so I’m not fully there yet 🫶🏽

@Anonymous Nica is awesome and I completely agree! I’m currently dealing with SOOCD and I’m also struggling to bring myself to date men. I’ve always wanted to be with a guy but when OCD hit, it made me extremely depressed bc I didn’t think I could have the life I’ve always wanted. But it’s gotten better since starting therapy and I feel optimistic about it! So if you’re feeling hopeless rn, I can assure you that you will get relief from all of this. As hard as it is, it won’t last forever and it will pass eventually.

@Anonymous Not very long, only a few months! I heard that on average, you can see a significant improvement in your symptoms in about 4 months of treatment. If you start now, it will mitigate the symptoms from becoming worse later on.
It happened similar to me. When I was 12 I got a mental image that made me think I am gay. Since that day It has come and go. What I meant it’s from a TikTok video you cannot conclude that the same will happen to you. Also, she shared very little information about her OCD. So, you cannot conclude anything. Also, this chats can be a bit of reassurance, which is not good for our condition. That’s why ERP, is the way to go.

Omg. This is scary. I guess that’s why we need to go through therapy. I guess the small probability will always be there. As much as we are scared we need to live with the uncertainty. I am a 33 old straight man. I recently broke up with my gf. And this video was scary as h. Hehe

@Anonymous I strongly suggest to go through ERP. There is no point avoiding it. Even though there is the chance of it, it’s worth going through it. Also, I don’t know how old are you, but from the video it seems she got it very early, and even now she has it, that she might be Straight. So maybe it’s a bit o reassurance but I heard that OCD goes against our values.
@Sebas Tian When I was 12 I first had the thought I was lesbian but it went away then it flared back in college cus I thought this girl was super pretty and it felt like real attraction and it latched on to bisexual ocd and the fear of being bi. Lived my life and forgot about that theme cus I got harm ocd and it kinda went away and I kinda realized it was ocd and I was always straight. Now it’s back and I’m getting false attractions and constantly doing metal review cus I found another girl attractive and it felt real. Makes me wild uncomfortable and then I saw her TikTok and it made me spiral cus she also did erp and said she was gay :( I don’t want to be bi … it’s against my religion and it feels weird and uncomfy for me. What I’m being in denial? Also what do you mean that she’s straight? The girl in the vid

Okay, so for the most part, if you have harm ocd/intrusive thoughts, you’ll understand (hopefully). If you haven’t seen, everyone is talking about the Netflix documentary “Dahmer”. Most harm ocd sufferers (myself included) that I’ve gotten to know all struggle with fears of being evil in any way (like a sociopath/narcissistic, etc). Do we need to make ourselves watch it? Even some of my friends without OCD say they couldn’t do it. The reason I don’t want to watch it is because I’m afraid it’ll trigger me. I’ll look for any common traits (this is what I do) and it’ll send me into a panic attack. But aren’t we SUPPOSED to on purpose watch things that bring us distress? The series has everyone talking about mental health and it SUCKS because OCD is considered “mental health” and I feel like it lumps us all into a giant category. Everything true crime triggers my harm ocd. I don’t even want to know humans are capable of such things because then it reminds me “it’s all possible”. I don’t know if I explained it well, but does ANYONE understand where I’m coming from 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Hi there, I am looking to get some support and advice, I recently started to suffer from SO-OCD due to tiktok. My feed started to have videos " if you did this or thought this you are gay" or videos of girls coming out later in life. I have never questioned my sexuality and have always been with men, I find it triggering as some of the things mentioned in the videos, I agree with but never thought it could mean I was gay. It had made me question everything and made me try to look back on the past to see if there were any evidence of this. I am nowhere near homophobic, but this is not the life I want for myself, so why is my mind so fixate on these thoughts if this is not who I identify nor want. I also struggle with ROCD Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated! xx
Does anyone find tiktoks about being ‘realising’ they are gay or coming out later in life really triggering? I have SO-OCD and seeing those things makes me question everything so deeply. How do you cope with this please.
