I am doing laundry right now and all my clothes are in the wash but once they are done I need to take a shower before putting them in the dryer because I feel like the dirtiness from me touching my dirty clothes will “contaminate” the clothes after washing.
I would say it mostly is. Obviously I don't know your exact situation but it sounds like contamination OCD to me.
I use to do that at my parent's house. Currently I pack my washing machine before going to bed, then shower. Wake up, put the detergent in, move things to the dryer when done, then shower for the day. I then put my laundry away at the end of the day. The contamination struggle is real when it comes to laundry.
It can definitely be a part of contamination OCD.

I didn't. When I moved, my routine just kind of shifted a bit. Still a struggle. My apartment is a brand new construction, so I'm the only one who has used it, which makes it a bit less stressful, but still not easy.
The problem I have is feeling like I need to disinfect the inside of the DRYER before transferring my wet clothes because I have no clue if my parents have/had chemicals or bacteria on their hands when they last loaded the dryer. I don’t know if the dryer gets hot enough to kill the germs if so. And my dad is a super manly husky man that touches gross things like rancid trash without a care in the world so I’m not exaggerating when I say bacteria. It’s exhausting feeling like I need to scrub the dryer because I feel like I need to shower first.. but I can’t always if I barely have any clothes to where. I run out of clean clothes so fast. 😩
I have contamination OCD and sometimes I don't feel like cleaning. I have a huge pile of blankets on my floor that feel contaminated and I have two dogs and seven cats. I don't really touch them anymore like I used to since my OCD got worse. One of my dogs like to pee on my floor a lot and sometimes I'm too lazy to clean it, because I'd have to get the carpet shampooer out and actually clean. Sometimes I do it because I don't want to wash my hands over and over, so I just avoid it. Now I'm scared that the dry urine is on my feet and are now in my bed. I know that I should just say well maybe it did or maybe it didn't and just go about my day, but it's hard. For the people who conquered contamination OCD how did you get through stuff like this? hi, this is a really embarrassing and personal thing to ask or you but i have severe contamination ocd and i just need to know what’s normal. -please don’t judge and be considerate i wasn’t taught this growing up how do you guys wash down there and wash your behind? i’ve been over washing and it’s hurting- i’m so tired of it —do you guys also wash your hands in the shower after washing these places?
I need advice. I’m constantly washing my hands after going to the bathroom/touching something I find gross, but it doesn’t stop at just washing. I have to keep washing til I feel right (usually 3-4 times). It also isn’t just my hands, I go all the way up my forearms. I know in my head that once is enough. But I can’t kick this repetitive behavior. I know I should just start only washing it once but I don’t know if I can handle the panic that will come after. I need advice/tips if anyone’s gone through something similar what worked for you. Im just sick of this
