Goat🐐 I hope to be me soon (with a girl) hahahaha
@Carlos A I hope happiness for you bro!
Nice! I learned that ocd makes us feel anxious no matter where we are or what we are doing so might as well do stuff you enjoy and go places you enjoy!!
@Jennica B. Exactly’ that’s the process! So I’m doing what i can!
There’s a couple of ways I keep my OCD under control: I leave the thoughts be after I initiate my anxiety, make the anxiety as worse as I possibly can and then I refuse to interact with the racing thoughts, watch them and attach no emotion to them, because the OCD wants a reaction and the more you feed it the worse it will become. Within a few days my OCD dissipates and I have a calm mind again. Spare yourself a few minutes a day to do this technique, if not by yourself then with a therapist, preferably one who specialises in ERP.
@Mr JRS I should clarify, initiating the anxiety every time you do the ERP therapy will make it less apparent as time goes on, I’m sure you’re well aware of this though.
@Mr JRS My probably is (right now) i feel i have more a philosophical approach and I’m sitting here thinking about it from an outside perspective rather then being in my head. I’m still not thrilled but the thoughts are here. I’m trying not to get crazy with it .. idk 😂
@Michael F I’ve had three relapses with my OCD, and each time I’ve learnt the only way is leaving the thought and exposing yourself to the fear to beat it over a period of time. You’ll recover from this eventually, but remember you are going to have dive in the deep end if you want a full recovery. Always available if you need help 👍🏻
@Mr JRS Wouldn’t mind the help if you’re on other social media apps
@Michael F I’m not on other apps, they infuriate me haha. This app is as far as I go. It’s good on NOCD because people are actually on this app who need help. I can provide you with as much detail via this app if you need. I’ve found the hardest part for people with OCD is simply letting go of the thoughts, it becomes so habitual that it becomes part of you, the good news is you can live a normal life without all the distribution in your mind. If you persevere and go through with therapeutic ways of getting this under control, possibly medicine too, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do. If you haven’t been to a specialist, yet, please go to one and explain this to them. If you don’t think you can beat this alone I’d suggest seeing a specialist 100% You don’t want the OCD taking up your days, months and years.
@Mr JRS Well to start i have had intrusive thoughts about sexuality starting off in the 11-12 mark with “what if i was gay” this then was followed up a couple years later with a few false attractions here and there. I also had a weird thing about getting it up if you know what i mean. But that kinda came and went here and there as well. As far as i remember that was the premise of it before college. Although there was a time where i got scared about being gay and my mom thought i was and thought i had a gf as a cover (idr this to well but it’s stuck in the head) All in all the actual OCD started when inwas a. Sophomore in college at a party the chick i was dating we were having a good time and some drunk person said she looked like someone there . Took me down the war path and here we are 6 years later .
@Mr JRS I’ve been in therapy, I’ve done my part but i fine my brain anazlying everything all day . The good news. I have a specialist, the bad news is i feel bad for how i feel and my gf now (who also knows it all as well)
@Michael F Do consider your reaction to the thoughts too, because your reaction makes them worse. Let them be, be compassionate with the images.
@Michael F But the reaction when doing the ERP therapy could be a blessing in disguise as this could lower your anxiety in future, not to sound contradictory.
@Mr JRS I just get weird because i have identified as straight and id like to be and still live as i am. Just scary. I’ve tried to be more “grey” and sometimes it works wonders. I just wanna be how i was when i was younger and have fun 😂
@Mr JRS Wow! You are so knowledgeable

Hi Michael, did you recover from this theme before? I’m dealing with thinking I’m bisexual and I hate it. It’s so much trickier cus it’s girl and boys :( I’m so scared
@Anonymous Id say I’m in the process! Still ways to go! Still have days where it all feels real etc
@Michael F Is this ur first time getting this theme and have you done erp for it??
@Anonymous Oh no no 😂 I’m a veteran 😂😂 yes I’ve done erp
@Michael F Sigh I’m doing ERP for SOOCD… does this mean this theme will pop up again for me 😐
@Michael F This will be the third time in my life sigh !! Doing erp for the first time and really hoping it goes away forever this time now I’m scared
@Anonymous Expect the unexpected!
@Anonymous Don’t be scared!
Yes it’s strange for us all having this condition, each persons story is different. I can totally understand where you are coming from. From my perspective dealing with this, I found the combination of triggering the anxiety to its max and then letting the thoughts just come helped the most. I’m currently taking Paxil for my Pure O, too.
@Mr JRS My girlfriend though has been a god send though
@Mr JRS I don’t take medication.. i kinda wanted to try myself before bringing in help.. i guess another question is how did you deal with false attractions . Any help?
@Michael F I’ve never had OCD related to sexuality, mine has always been Pure O, Harm OCD and perfectionism OCD. But you can apply the same general techniques to every form of OCD. At its root OCD is fear, and there’s only one way to beat fear and that’s by facing it full on. Therefore, if you’re triggered by the thoughts you are having you are then required to face them to beat them. And the way you face them is by allowing the anxiety to course through your body and acknowledging the thought but not obsessing over it and then continuing with the compulsion
@Mr JRS Treat the the thought like this, if you were to think of a math question, in this case the question was too hard so you give up and come back to it later, easy to do, yeah? Well try using that same technique with your OCD.
@Mr JRS I see, and what about the accompanying feelings such as guilt, shame and feeling bad for my significant other
@Michael F Honestly the best advice I can give you is to go ahead and just accept the thoughts and the anxiety over a spell of time to recover by applying the methods above. One day I woke up and chose to fight back and place myself in vulnerable positions to be able to overcome OCD when it hurts most.
