Cancer OCD

I just became a father and now any experiencing pain in the abdomen. Immediately looked for symptoms online but I fear of it being Cancer. I don’t have any tests or diagnostics saying it’s cancer but I can’t stop looking up more info on the internet, I’m 33 and I know it’s rare for me to get it but I keep having extreme anxiety and panic attacks that keep me visiting the ER for further testing. I have followed up with doctors and they are running tests but I keep thinking I won’t be there for my family!

Label this as ocd. Just becoming a parent is wonderful but stressful so ocd is going to come at you even harder. Please try not to search the internet - it will feed the ocd. Trust your doctors- easier said then done but it is the answer. It will be hard to do but this may help -it helps me a lot: https://www.shalanicely.com/aha-moments/erp-scripting-for-ocd/

I am experiencing the exact same concern, even down to stomach pain. I’ve just had a baby too, and am absolutely terrified. Just know you’re not alone here

I can relate!! My OCD reared it’s ugly head again after I had my daughter. Stress always brings on my obsessions/compulsions. And Health Concern OCD is one of my main themes. I’ve had that since about 6/7 years old. So I feel your pain - believe me. Like they said up there 👆, try not to google. I know it gives relief but it’s always temporary, then the terror comes back so much worse every time. Can you get out and exercise for a bit? That helps me a lot.

Dr. Google is such a quack. He's always "this is cancer"... I'm with Erin, you should check out your concerns with your actual doctor, then accept that they're going to do tests where warranted and trust the results. This kind of obsession makes sense for new parents... there's more at stake now, so OCD is going to be a real turd about things. But it's all the same so you'll treat it the same. Congratulations on the little nugget! Baby cuddles are the best. Enjoy your sweet little one 🥰

I’m so afraid of getting cancer. I’ve been to the doctor so many times for false alarms, it’s starting to cost so much money. I hate this subtype of OCD. I’m hyper-focused on small pains in my body and I always make them out to be much more than they are. Literally the past few days I had a pressure headache and I was convinced it was brain cancer. This is ridiculous. I don’t know where to begin with ERP for this type of OCD. My compulsion is going to the doctor and that’s becoming a very expensive compulsion... My other compulsion is googling my symptoms, which always freaks me out cause every symptom means “cancer” according to google.

Health OCD

I had an ultrasound to keep an eye on my gallbladder polyp. Polyp is still the same but they found a 3cm mass on pancreas. Of course I went down the rabbit hole and I've been crying all day. Dr hasn't called me back yet. I saw results on my patient portal and freaked out. I'm only 33 years old. I don't smoke/drink and I don't have a family history of PC. I have two sons and I'm terrified. Idk what to do but I'm so scared. I just wish the Dr would get back to me. The patient portal said schedule MRI follow up. My health anxiety/OCD is going crazy.

Health concerns

Hey everyone, I’m not sure if this is super OCD related, but I figured I’d post just to maybe feel less alone. I’m always worried in the back of my mind that I might have cancer, and it’s not for nothing, I have had two types of cancer before I was 10 years old. The fear doesn’t take over my life, but it’s definitely there. I recently got sent to check a large lump that appeared on my thyroid, and all diagnostics coming back so far are ruling out the easy non-cancer options. I’m worried, it’s not an unfounded worry, but it’s starting to interfere with my life in a way that feels like OCD. I’m scared, and if I’m completely honest, I’m extremely sad. The last thing I want to do is get life changing bad news in the middle of an OCD spiral. Anyway, thank you for reading, I think I just needed to get that off my chest ❤️‍🩹
