Hi does anyone else have this theme and can let me know if I’m crazy or in immediate danger? Yesterday when walking to work I saw something fly in front of me pretty close to my face. I don’t know if it was a bat or a sparrow. It was also 4PM but I didn’t get a good look. Should I get the PEP vaccine to be safe it’s really scaring me. I have had this theme before, but I’m never sure if I’m safe and completely healthy kr not. Please advise
I've had this happen before, literally thought my own vaccinated cat biting me and not breaking my skin was gonna give me rabies after my dad made a joke about it. I got so scared I went to extreme lengths to get reassurance. I didn't end up getting any shots and was strongly advised against it. I still cringe and get this intrusive thought and fear a lot since then. Something small can set it off and honestly it's super duper scary in the moment. However many many years have passed after each time I've felt this way, and rabies isn't typically easy to come by. Overall, from what you're saying you weren't touched or bit. However that would be me reassuring you. I wasn't there and unfortunately am not a doctor, however I can tell you that the feeling will pass and it gets better. The less you engage the thought the easier it will get, try to break the loop if you can. I hope this helps, best of luck to you
I also have the same fears with my OCD. The other day something flew over my head and I didn't get a good look at it and was afriad I got rabies. What helped me get though it was practicing my ERP and not googling or seeking reasurance. The anxiety that came along with doing ERP was hard but the anxiety did pass. This situation happened to me earlier this week and today I can 100% say my anxiety has passed on it and I didn't even think about it again until I saw your post and I'm no longer anxious about my situation. You can do it too! OCD sucks but I agree with the other comment on this thread the less you engage in your compulsions the smaller the fear gets. I hope you have peace in knowing that you are not alone in your OCD and it will get better as you work to treat your OCD ❤️. I hope you are seeing a counselor to help you work through it. Staring to see a counselor specialized in treating OCD on this app has made a huge improvement in OCD recovery.
And to add a little more I also remind myself that uncertainty comes with life.. we can't always have all the answers like our OCD wants us too.. but to live in uncertainty for me has been much more liberating than living with OCD and fear. Easier said than done and I'm still working on it myself. But when you asked what I do to help myself get through these thoughts. These things help me and I hope they help you too ❤️

I need some hope 😕 On 4th of a July I heard something fly by me - I didn’t feel or see anything but my brain has created this elaborate story that it was a bat that landed on me and bit me without me knowing. I’ve been going through it the last few weeks - scanning my body, google, Reddit etc.
My ocd has been flaring up lately I’ve noticed some things that I don’t know if it’s ocd or something else whenever I seen someone like drugged or sick or just not “normal” I feel like or get scared that’s gonna end up being me? Does that make sense or then after a few minutes I feel like I’m them I don’t know exactly how to explain it I feel like I’m gonna start acting crazy or like I act weird or like them ? Idk exactly how to explain it and I have such a drop in my stomach thinking of it because it makes me feel insane, I haven’t had such an ocd episode so it’s getting hard again and making me feel insane specially because I don’t know how to explain this that I feel, I feel so scared rn can someone please comment on this?
A few days ago, I posted how proud I am of myself, that I managed to go to the doctor to get a vaccination. Now, two days later, I find myself panicking and ruminating. It was a practice where they also test a lot for HIV and other blood diseases and in my mind, the needle/syringe they used for my vaccination was somehow contaminated with blood from another patient. Maybe by accident but sometimes my mind would make up a scenario where they would do it even on purpose. I was so proud of myself, that I managed to go there on Monday and now I am making up scenarios how I caught HIV by going there - I am feeling guilty because I was „careless“. Any tips for the moment? ❤️
I’ve been really struggling with obsessing on the though that I somehow got exposed to rabies without my knowledge. I live in an older home and my mind keeps telling me somehow a bat got in without my knowledge, even though I have no reason to believe so. I also own a cat and I’ve also been struggling with what if he got exposed because of this “bat”.
