Hi, I am just new here and never familiar with NOCD, are there any Christian Therapist here? I feel that I am battling with Religious OCD and Scrupulosity. I am not being able to sleep properly for almost months. Been 5 months since I have this battle so exhausting!
My therapist is a Christian.

I did the free 15 minute call with NOCD through their website. They then asked me to choose a therapist. I chose John Barber. Mary Beth Overstreet is good too. I don't know if she's a Christian but she has OCD and does ERP therapy herself.
@R. Byrd How many days did you wait to get a session after 15 mins free call?
I don’t know any, but I would search up Mark Dejesus on YouTube. He gives fantastic advice as a Christian who dealt with OCD

Not only do you have a therapist. But they have group sessions you can join. And they have advocates who have been through therapy at NOCD and now help others. You can text them Monday -Friday.
@R. Byrd Okay thank you for the information. Do you need to get diagnosed to have a therapy session?
I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was less than a week.
I honestly can't remember. I already had a diagnosis when I called. Sorry I can't remember everything. But do the 15 minute free call. They called me the same day.

Also, Mark DeJesus and Jaime Eckert are good to follow. Jaimies website is Scrupulosity Solutions and Mark DeJesus has bunches of videos on YouTube. His ministry is Turning Hearts ministries. Both have Scrupulosity and now help others with it. Jaimie is going on maternity leave til November but there's plenty of videos and blogs on her site.
@R. Byrd Oh yes, I’ve been watching Mark’s videos which is very helpful. Just thinking now if I needed therapy to cured or slay this OCD, so awful!!

@NinaCalimbo I've been doing ERP for 2 weeks. Oh my goodness! Rough. Rough. Rough. But that's what it's suppose to be. Please call. OCD can't win.

@NinaCalimbo Yes I have Scrupulosity. Yes it is all online. But it is truly a community. They are there for you.

@NinaCalimbo Exactly. If you do it. God leaves you. If you don't do it God leaves you. If you say it God's gone. If you don't say it God's gone. All day long.
@R. Byrd Even watching movies feels like a sin to me. Then putting make up is a vanity smh 😔 Will a therapy jump off at ERP or will just going to talk to you for the first few sessions?
@NinaCalimbo I'm dealing with feeling guilty over watching TV right now. The first session will be assessment type stuff. I think the 3rd session was when ERP started for me.

@R. Byrd Hey, I know you’ve been listening to Mark De Jesus, and I know he teach about receiving God’s grace, hmm have you ever had a hard time receiving God’s grace while having OCD?

@RiriCalista I don't manage it too well. But that doesn't mean He isn't giving it to me. The christian walk is faith not feeling but I have a hard time with that because my whole christian life I've lived by feelings. (48 years worth of feelings). So I'm going to have to take the" journey" as mark Dejesus says. I feel I have to do the OCD therapy first and then begin the journey to love myself and accept that God loves me just as I am. Performance is not what God wants, He wants our heart. Now at the moment I can't hardly believe any of what I just wrote but it doesn't make it any less true.
@RiriCalista And no I don't believe we are rejecting His grace I just think we don't know how to receive it.
@R. Byrd WOW THIS IS SO EMPOWERING 🥹 Because I myself don’t even know where to start. Tho I know the Lord loves me, but I can’t fully comprehend it rn. Sometimes I wonder if He really does or if He is with me rn. I considered myself as a new Christian. This year I just started being so serious abt my faith that leads to OCD 😢 I don’t know hays
Mark took off most of this month but will be back Live on August 27th I believe.
I hear a lot of new Christians say that they got OCD after becoming a believer. I hope you can get in therapy and get it under control. And I completely understand about wondering if God is with you!

I'm on Zoloft and I take Trazadone to help me sleep
Welcome. And I was a no medicine person. I said I wanted Jesus to be my medicine. But I feel different now. I'm using God, meds, and therapy
Same thing happened with me. I saw a psychiatrist and next thing I know, medicine. And medicine takes time, it's not an overnight thing.
@R. Byrd Oh so the psychiatrist diagnosed you and put you in medication? But your doctor is the one who gave you Trazadone? When the doctor gave you medication, did you take it immediately? As well as to the Zoloft?
Yes I took it that same day. I had not hardly slept in a month so I took the Trazadone that first night. And I started the Zoloft the same day it was prescribed.
@R. Byrd They gave me cyclobenzaprine, they said it can make me sleepy as well and treat my muscle pain. I don’t know if I am supposed to take this one anyway ugh so confusing 🥲
Only you can make that decision. But I understand your feelings.
@R. Byrd He is supposed to gave me sleeping pills but then he tought I have muscle pains that’s why. I don’t know if this is muscle pain or like nervous shaking due to panic ugh!

Oh okay, just went to MD and gave me some medication hays I felt scared for this. I am just really expecting for some diagnosis tbh but ended up getting some medicine 🥲
Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for dealing with religious OCD. I'm a Christian and I struggle with Harm OCD but then somehow, my religious beliefs got mixed into this where I am suddenly asking all these questions on whether God/Jesus is even good. And as a result, I feel so distant from my faith which makes dealing with my harm OCD so much harder 😢 Any advice would be appreciated.

Please help anyone else here with Religious ocd and is a Christian? My brain is going hay-wire and want to know I'm not alone... what do your thoughts say and how do you overcome compulsions? Im going through a rough moment and feel sick with anxiety and stiff. I want to obey God but my thoughts won't stop. I surrender to the Lord and then I have peace with the compulsions and they go away but the thoughts are the scary part please - is this spiritual or is it mental? Or is it both? Would love to hear a Christians opinion on this... because my thoughts latch on and won't dissappear but I know that the Bible commands us to take control of our thoughts and to renew our minds...yet God has grace for this and mercy for our every need... I know God is in control (completely) and my mind creates a lot of the issues for me without any spiritual stuff (it's a very powerful thing) but it's still scary. Lord help me, I surrender myself to you Jesus, counsel my soul and help me.
