My ocd is obsessing over the death and the fear of it and losing loved ones. I hate itttttttttt. Then I start questioning like why are we out here if we just die some day? And then it all feels so unreal to me when I think about the fact we all die and I hope there is something after death. Just felt like ranting. Wish my brain and ocd had an off switch lol
I have this same exact OCD subtype. It's so hard. I'm very hopeful that ERP will help. I see you have a Conquerer badge - congratulations!! Have you conquered this specific obsession and/or others as well?
@Anonymous I conquered others. I conquered SOCD, death is a new subtype I’m struggling with.

Yes yes.... it happens to sooo many people. You are definitely not alone. Trust in God and read His Word. You will be encouraged by Jesus.
@RMO2023 I grew up Christian I really try but I feel like my OCD is a wall than keeps me from truly believing. Especially because I feel like God never hears me when I pray.
@OCDisneyqueen Ohh man. Many years ago when I started having these, I thought, how can I turn away from the one who sustains me? It's like a dog that bites the hand that feed him. I learned then to dig my kneese deeper in His Word, whenever I go through these and God has not failed me. He works in ways that we can't always inmediately see, but he DOES listen and answer. That's why His Word us so important to me. GOD still speaks today through His word. It is living and active. We ourselves are such a miracle, the universe and everything in it tell of a phenomenal creator and that's one way we know that HE IS. Also, the great ammount of witnesses throughout generations. There's only two alternatives: Either we are overcome, or we overcome. And the best way to success is following the architecht's plans.
@RMO2023 I would really encourage you to not let anything get in between you and God. We are called to live by FAITH not by feelings or thoughts. It's a determined committment and certainty to what we don't see; to what we hope for. Charles Stanley said a couple of things that are being of great blessing to me:1 Obey God, and leave all the consequesnces to Him. 2 Fight all your battles on your knees and you win every time. But, the Bible says "He who comes to Him must believe that HE IS the rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM." I hope this helps. OCD is tough, but God won't waste it, if we turn to Him.

@OCDisneyqueen I know exactly how you feel. Doubting may never go away. But we have to ask for forgiveness. Use prayer as meditation. Occasionally, if I feel I can’t converse with God I will repeat prayers (Hail Mary, our fathers, glory be, etc) but sometimes I’m just having a convo with god lol. I learned not to box myself into one way of believing! Take time to heal ur relationship with god, it doesn’t happen over night! Your prayer doesn’t have to be to him now, it can just be to yourself, or the universe. What’s important is those small moments of true intent with yourself. Practice prayer. It sounds silly but soon you can build a healthy habit, and that can look or be anything you want.
At least, I am. My hope is in Him.
Of course we can’t stop the inevitable but with my ocd it’s all I can think about. I’m afraid I’ll be alone for ever and I’ll fear forever. Fear does not stop death it stops life. But how do I stop fear??? I can’t think of anything scarier than the fact that our conscious will vanish for eternity. I am only 20 years old but I mean the last 5 years flew by like nothing.
so i have ocd but this is the main theme ive been dealing with for the last few months, im obsessed with my mortality and i feel trapped by the reality of death. i dont really believe in an afterlife which makes it scarier, not that i dont wanna my brain literally just wont let me. but i have daily panic attacks thinking about death all day, its honestly the toughest thing ive ever dealt with. does anybody have any tips on how they manage this if they have ever dealt with it? not looking for reassurance, just some non compulsive ways to kind of lessen the grip of the fear.
My OCD has bounced around to a lot of different topics but my current spiral has been focused on existential dread - I have a lot of intrusive thoughts about my loved ones dying and not existing and about my own death and not existing anymore. OCD is trying to get me to find certainty in what happens after we die… and unfortunately I will NEVER be able to find certainty around this. This spiral started after the death of my beloved cat and then the almost death of my dog a week later. I think OCD attached to this idea that everyone and everything I love is going to die and I need to prepare myself for it and somehow KNOW what happens when someone dies. It’s panic inducing and really hard for me to sit with vs other OCD themes Ive had related to health, moral/hyper responsibility, etc. Anyone have this type of obsession around death of loved ones and how did you combat the intrusive thoughts and deal with the mental compulsions (rumination, avoidance, etc)?
