It’s suppose to be the safer of the SSRIs. Everyone is different, but I went on it at 14/15 and gained around 40 pounds the first 5/6 months. I’ve had many over the years and they are helpful but not something you should feel married to if you are having side effects. It takes some adjusting for all those meds, you may be a little sleepy or nauseous or slight head ache but not always. For me it takes a couple weeks to start to adjust and notice a difference in my thought patterns.
@We can do hard things 🦋 Oh ok! Besides the side effects would you say it benefited the ocd ? My psych said it’s approved to not cause weight gain, because I already struggle with weight. I have pcos and that was a concern of mine before trying a new Med
Keep a journal and don’t be shy to mention if you have any embarrassing or frightening thoughts that don’t feel like yourself. I really think you are safe with this med to start off. It does well for a lot of people. Keep communication with your doctor and be honest and they will take care of you. SSRIs can really help quality of life for periods of time and make things more manageable. 💛🦋 wishing you the best of luck honey bee!
@We can do hard things 🦋 Thank you!! 💛 I feel like zoloft and Prozac only helped 60% and I couldn’t go up on them. The higher doses were really rough
It didn’t work for me but no medication works on me.
@Nica I swear same lol
Celexa is citalopram and it is an older SSRI, it is safe, but escitalopram (Lexapro) is a newer version of the medication and people tend to have fewer side effects from it. The only FDA approved medication for OCD is Luvox, and I found it really helpful at treating OCD, but it gave me insomnia and I wasn’t sure which was worse.
@Ms. P Thank you!!
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
