My religious ocd has been flaring up again. I’m afraid that the only way to get over it is to not be Christian at all. Is anyone still a Christian who has overcome or greatly reduced religious ocd?
I was able to greatly reduce. I learned a lot about legalism vs. grace. I had to tear down all of my old legalistic beliefs and rebuild my relationship with God based on my understanding of his grace. It’s a work in progress but I’m moving in the right direction. I find that when I sit with discomfort around sin (whether perceived or real) then it helps it become less charged. I realized that we go through this life not to “earn” heaven but to “learn” heaven. Learning heaving is a refiners process with many ups and down. Good luck!

I’m christian and i have a little bit of religious OCD! it’s just important to realize God is so forgiving and loving and that he wants us to be with him. He’s rooting for you! Also he’s seen everything you’re going through before so he’s not shocked or like appalled by what you do. He’s seen it all!
What we do is not what makes us christiabs. The Word says it is God who keeps us fir salvation. Therefore, it is His seal, through faith in Jesus as His Son and His righteousness as the attonement for our sins. His righteousness alone, not our works.
However, the Word also says we are not of those who shrink back... I don't think avoidance is the answer to your OCD, but rather to let go of gilt and shame. Do you want to tell me a bit more about what your struggle is exactly?
@RMO2023 I guess I’m worried my whole faith is just my ocd and once I get that under control I’ll be left with nothing. Like it’s just been rituals this whole time or something
@Renegade That sounds like OCD... it's been happenning to me lately also. Byt, that's just another reminder to rely on God, and not on ourselves.

I struggle with this too! I feel like I’m in a hamster wheel of “if I just do this it will fix this,” but then it feels like it just causes that same thing all over again. Ocd for Christians can be tough, as it is for everyone. I am trying to trust Jesus fully and give Him my feelings. Our feelings are valid, but that doesn’t make them true. So when we give our troubles to Jesus (as He tells us to) He speaks truth into them. Nice to know I’m not the only one ❤️❤️❤️

OCD has decided to latch onto my religion (Christianity) and I find myself doubting my belief in Jesus Christ. Yet when I research, I even find myself doubting the atheistic and agnostic approach as well. I’ve been a Christian since I was 13, growing up in a non-Christian in truth but nominally Christian household. This is rough. Any advice?
Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for dealing with religious OCD. I'm a Christian and I struggle with Harm OCD but then somehow, my religious beliefs got mixed into this where I am suddenly asking all these questions on whether God/Jesus is even good. And as a result, I feel so distant from my faith which makes dealing with my harm OCD so much harder 😢 Any advice would be appreciated.
I used to have religious OCD. Still kinda do. Accidentally thought something bad about God once, panicked thought something bad about the Holy Spirit. Fell into doom. This was recently after recomitting myself to Christ. Since then I pretty much gave up. Unfortunately, it also led to me compromising my morals many times because I figured I was going to hell anyway. I wish I knew what OCD was then. I think it would have saved me a lot of pain. I no longer have a relationship with God, and fear I never will again.
