My religious OCD is really draining me. I feel very disconnected from God because I think everything I do is wrong in his eyes. Like if I don’t have only Catholic, straight, etc. friends then He’s mad at me. I just want to feel connected to him again and not feel like I’m disappointing him.

And remember, Jesus was good to sinners. He ate with them, healed them, loved/loves them. And He loves us too. The Catholic Church puts so much emphasis on not sinning and for repenting for sin through actions, when we are also taught that we are only saved by grace. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) I’m a subsect if Lutheran, so basically reformed Catholic, and a big emphasis in our church is just that God loves us no matter what and that Jesus saved us. And that’s it. That’s all we need. We just gotta believe and have faith and be as good as we can to eachother - to love others regardless of their faults because that’s how God loves us. We all makes mistakes in our lives... As long as we are making efforts to have a link with God and be good to all his creatures, it’s all good

Try to have good, nice, supportive, caring friends and care about them as well. It doesn’t matter whether they are catholic, Protestant or Hindu, Muslims or Buddhist or whatever....He is God of all of us, not just catholics ?

He is a Universal God and can’t be so narrow minded as to care for only people of one particular religion

Try ur best not to do anything that makes ur conscience guilty...have a link with Him... Pray to Him... Ask Him for guidance... Talk to Him and be as good to His creatures as possible

U r influenced by the company u keep... so also ask for God’s guidance in choosing ur friends...?..He will guide you... but please ask guidance from a Universal God, not from the God of just catholics..?if u know what I mean

The other part is that I am a very accepting person, but I constantly worry that if I have LGBTQ friends then He is mad at me as well

Oh it the acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer

However practically speaking, it is wise to have friends who exert a good influence on u, who ,by their words and actions, help u in becoming a good, responsible and spiritual person

That’s what makes this hard is all my non-straight friends are amazing people. I never struggled with this before but it became my new obsession this summer and I just feel so confused now

Ok awesome...?.. that’s great...just have a good bunch of friends... don’t worry too much about their sexual preference...However let them know loud and clear that u r straight and a believer and u r making an effort to be a good human being
