Medication
I’ve put off taking medication for a long time; and I just started sertraline. Can anyone give me some positive reports whose tried it before? I’m scared.

I'm a christian and I really didn't want to take medicine, but our minds need help. There's no shame in getting therapy and taking medicine. God created therapist and medicine.
@Rhonda Byrd Have you found a therapist on this platform that you love?
@Rhonda Byrd I was seeing some real gains with meds and therapy but then I ran into a brick wall (ie a trigger) that sent me spiraling. I had a lot of success with Cymbalta for years and I’m on Luvox/Buspar right now. I agree with you, I wish I didn’t need medicine but God made me the way I am and he made doctors and scientists too - so I’ve got to believe meds are for our benefit.
im also terrified of new medication. i tried sertraline once and all it did was give me some energy and put me in a better mood, nothing crazy. i have some friends that it’s helped tremendously. and even if ur doesn’t work for you that’s completely okay, nothing bad will happen. if you don’t like how it makes you feel, you don’t have to keep taking it, and the feeling won’t last more than a day. but it could also help you lots. i was terrified of taking adhd meds but it’s completely changed my life for the better.
I’ve been on sertraline for about 7-8 years. It’s definitely changed my life significantly. I used to have frequent behavioral problems and meltdowns, and getting on it definitely helped in getting rid of them. It makes things so much easier, and because of it I’m able to engage in things that I never thought I would do. Trying new things is scary, and your thoughts are valid. I hope it ends up working for you!! 💞
I was on it before and it helped to be able to easily dismiss the thoughts. I tried taking it this time around and it did not help, but i hear it is really good for many people.
I've been on it since June and it has helped me with anxiety. It calms my thoughts some though it doesn't take them away. But that's not to say it won't help your thoughts. Some say they can tell a real difference.
I have taken sertraline for decades, and along with therapy and work on my part, it REALLY has helped me. If you had high blood pressure or diabetes or any other condition that can be helped by medication, you probably wouldn’t question taking it. If, after an appropriate amount of time, it doesn’t help you, you can always discontinue it.
My therapist is John Barber. I think you have to see who practices in the state you're in. Have you done the free 15 minute call yet?
Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
For starters I was on this medicine before i remember the first few weeks were very scary and debilitating. I don’t remember why I stopped taking it , it was about 7 months ago. but I just recently started back because my ocd and anxiety has been off the chain. I keep having bad thoughts about the side affects and I’m terrified like “ what if I have a seizure” can anybody share an experience? Anyone on Zoloft here. Thanks !
I am probably going to start sertraline soon. Does anyone have any experience with this medication?
