Hey I’m sorry you’re going through this. This has been my issue for a long time. Unfortunately there’s no easy way. Believe me. If you try to suppress it or replace with “good” thought, it becomes a compulsion and part of a vicious cycle. Do you think you’d be able to think about the distressing thought on purpose and try to not do a compulsion? Easier said than done, I know. Eventually you won’t even care that you get the thought, and it’ll be easier to move on :) On another note, I just want you to know it’s okay if you are having intrusive thoughts and to not feel guilty for them. Turns out we all do, even those who don’t have OCD.

@Yasminnn Oh absolutely. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve isolated myself and cried my soul out because of how overwhelming and draining it is. I mean, who wants to see vivid thoughts of bad things happening to your loved ones?! True crime is definitely a trigger for me, or anything graphic or violent in nature. I used to love horror movies years ago and I think it contributed to my OCD. Idk if this is reassurance, but these thoughts are gonna try to make you feel like you are in real danger. You are not, you are safe, I promise you.

@Yasminnn It must’ve been shocking yeah? 😞 Are you able to customize what you can see? I know Instagram lets you add keywords to prevent certain posts from showing up
