Is it normal to have intrusive thoughts about others while in a happy relationship?

A person who is gay, I don’t think would feel anxious about those types of thoughts. Same as a gay person having straight thoughts, if they were really straight I doubt they would feel anxious. I know people realising their sexuality can feel confronting and confusing, but I think someone would just KNOW deep down what they are. I am a straight woman who is with a man, and I used to identify as bisexual when I was younger (I experimented, I don’t actually think I was fully bi I think I was curious and young) but anyway, I don’t even like to associate myself with that word because I’ve always been into guys and only ever dated guys, and when I found my partner I just knew within myself I didn’t want that label anymore and so I consider myself straight… but believe me I still get intrusive thoughts about girls, and guys too, I hate it all, I genuinely don’t like to associate myself with my past choices, because I was so young then and didn’t know who I really was… I was confused. That’s what I mean when I say you just KNOW. I just KNOW that I’m in a straight committed relationship. The thoughts of doubt still sick and can make you feel sick and feel like u don’t even know yourself because the thoughts feel real, but they aren’t. They’re the opposite of what u want. At the end of the day idk you and I can’t tell you wether you are or are not gay. But all I can tell you is try to focus (not too hard) on how you feel when those thoughts come up. Are you feeling positive, happy, content? Or are you feeling confused, upset and depressed? Sometimes ocd can give us false feelings but just try to remember that if you hate those types of thoughts then I really doubt you are gay. Good luck with your journey, if it makes you feel better there are honestly so so many people who go through this exact same thing, even gay people have intrusive unwanted thoughts about being straight, that freak them out the same way as you are freaked out.

If you have thoughts that pop into your head that cause anxiety and you want them to go away so you do a compulsion it's definitely OCD if you've been diagnosed with the disorder. You could question your sexuality without anxiety I'd assume while not compelled to do a compulsion so this scenario probably wouldn't be OCD. I don't personally struggle with this type of OCD though so that's a good question for an expert.
