If you can, get to an OCD specialist. They will be able to help you with this, and since they’re familiar with OCD they’ll understand that it’s just OCD and aren’t going judge you.

I have a 3.5 year old and was having POCD fairly bad a couple years ago. I didn’t do anything specific but just continue to take care of her and hold her. That definitely subsided. I don’t get those feelings anymore. My wife and I are having a boy in several weeks too. I think just living and taking care of your kids will act as the ERP. You will be a great father.

When I used to seek reassurance constantly I saw a lot of people with the same issue as you so you’re not alone. If you haven’t already, go see your GP and see what they say, even if they give you some anti depressants to bring your mood up a little bit. I definitely relate to the part where you say your brain makes you think you already have done something. Feels awful and I totally understand. Congratulations on your amazing news. Don’t be disheartened if baby arrives and you still have these thoughts. It’s a horrible, evil disorder but you CAN overcome this

My first time on here. Feels so validating and reassuring to read someone going through the EXACT same thing as me. I know you’ll be a great dad and I will too one day. Don’t let it define you. I think it’s really good on this board, hope it helps others as much as it’s helping me right now.
