NOCD doesn’t accept Medicaid in NC.. I feel helpless. I have nothing, no job.. no money that can afford this therapy and I really made myself vulnerable to the sweetest woman just listening to me cry about my OCD and how it effects my life.. Just to be told that I’m not able to be helped. This is probably why my parents pretended I didn’t have mental issues, we just couldn’t afford it. ..I can’t afford anything. Even my life.
NOCD isn't the only option. You could look into other OCD therapists. If you haven't yet, I would recommend trying the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) website's therapist search tool for therapists near you. And even if you can't see a therapist, there's still much you can do! You could research OCD and read articles and books and watch videos and follow social media accounts, just to name a few things. And I'm sorry you're feeling down...
@Anonymous Thank you. She suggested that but I just.. idk, I never really speak about how my OCD really makes me feel. I always feel like a burden so expressing that emotion to a professional just felt safe. It gave me a taste of what I could never afford or get as a child. At thirty I finally went out on a limb to be vulnerable to my GREATEST capabilities to be told something they could have observed when I applied for it. I placed the “Medicaid” option.. they KNEW I was in NC before they called. I just wish that they could have told me these options before I cried about my anxiety driven life. Cause it felt too good to be told “thanks for sharing that but you’ll have to work up the nerve to go to other people and see what’s probably available for you when you have zero way of paying for anything” I’m sorry. I’m grateful for even THIS APP and I know I seem.. negative but Ive read all I could over the past two decades. I just get told to pray and let it go or try to get through it.. and I’m tired of feeling left alone with my thoughts.
@MelaninMoet Don't worry about seeming negative, buddy! You're good! I'm sorry that you feel like a burden -- I feel like that too. I don't know your full situation, so I'm sorry if I'm understanding this wrong. I'm sorry they didn't tell you that beforehand. That is upsetting. I won't tell you to "just pray and let it go". It's not that easy, I know. I'm sorry you feel alone, that's a terrible feeling that I know too well. If you want, I'm here to listen to you. I'm sorry, I wish I could do more! I found an OCD therapist that took my insurance that NOCD doesn't take through the IOCDF therapist search. Either way, even with a therapist, OCD is a struggle; and not having a therapist definitely doesn't make it impossible to take care of yourself OCD-wise. Money can easily be an issue, I totally agree with that...
Look into Nathan Peterson’s OCD course that does have a few but it’s definitely not as much as therapy.

It's hard I know. Im.on medicare due toOCD and Cancer. No OCD therapist in my area takes it. The majority of therapist do not take insurance. They state they are not in network with any insurance but after we pay we can ask the insurance company for a reimbursement. Good luck with that. Its weird because I honestly feel like having cancer gas been easier than yaving OCD, there are muchmore resources available for it (financially and physically). I stopped donating to the OCD foundation when I realized they couldn't help for real. You can post the locations to all the therapist you want but if half the people can't afford them, then what?

Can you please please please accept Medicaid soon. I feel I have no where else to go. I need help asap. I feel like I’m running out of options but I do my best to take care of myself day by day. But I’m so sick of my ocd and I really need to work with someone who understands and can help. I’ve been working so hard for so many years and still struggle….. please make this more available it’s so needed. The lack of accessibility to adequate services is really frustrating
Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has advice for affording NOCD therapy? I’m from the UK so cannot get this service on insurance and the therapy is costing me A LOT of money. I’ve contacted the billing team who have put me on a payment plan but this doesn’t make it any cheaper. They can’t do anything else for me to help so I’m stuck - I’m not in the right place to stop therapy but I also just cannot keep paying this money for it. Help!!
I was set up to have my first appointment. I realized it would have to be out of pocket. I can’t really afford this but my tax returns are inbound so that helps. I kept getting a prompt in the app to upload my insurance. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE MEDICAID. Now my appointment has been cancelled and I am not eligible to schedule one. There are no providers near me that specialize in OCD. I just got done bawling my eyes out. The relief I felt to finally be heard and understood and then to have that ripped from me is completely devastating. I feel so hopeless!
