My mind is constantly telling me that im lying to myself just to hide the truth but how can i know if thats the case like and the false attraction is really messing me up .When i try to pursue a girl i find pretty my brain tells me ur only doing it because you’re hiding the truth and some bs like that.
Totally get it, like it’s really really difficult to know what’s the actual “reality” when the very thing that should confirm us about the true facts is fooling us. It clearly happens when all our judgements and perceptions get completely clouded by OCD and make us question the very essence of our intentions and acts. One way to disarm OCD is to bring up our actual values and intentions, OCD can mess up with our judgments, but not our core values or feelings, if we genuinely want something, no matter what all we “feel” on top due to OCD, is of no use, since OCD is largely outside our control, so trying to confront it with its own logic won’t work, we need to hold on to our reality and values, that’s few aspects OCD as very little control on, so no matter what all, OCD can’t do anything to change the actual reality itself but just our “feelings” and “thoughts” it can cloud!!
@UH52 But im so scared what if its the reality and im just hiding it because sometimes it feels so real

@Anonymous I get it, like that’s indeed one of the greatest problems with OCD, like we can never be sure or certain about what’s the true reality, we all do face exactly that. So in that case, maybe we need to first calm ourselves down, and then understand what are we truly fearing, like either it might be irrational and clouded by OCD, or there might be something that’s rational in it, but that’s been messed up by OCD on top. I get it’s really hard, but understanding what we fear actually, and seeing do “we” actually don’t want it, or we just avoid it out of fear despite our wish needed to be understood, then we can get some perspective on the issue at hand rather than avoiding them and thus being in more distress!!

@Anonymous It’s completely fine, I’ll try to say it a bit more easily. Like when you are clear and calm you can understand your intentions and feelings right, so that’s what matters! So that means the other confusion is caused by OCD and not your fault or your values! So no need to be scared, as it’s just irrational and caused by OCD, OCD can indeed confuse us when it’s in control! Hope it helps! :)
@UH52 Yeah it help even tho my ocd is noe trying to convince me otherwise like you only want to pursue a gf because you were thaught that way and bs like tha
@Anonymous Exactly, OCD will always try to convince us otherwise no matter what all we do, and unfortunately to counter OCD is not easily possible too. So just pursuing what we truly want and believe despite OCD stopping us is the most effective way, and by time, we can get a strong grasp on our true values, intentions and feelings thus being more sure despite OCD making us doubt!!
@UH52 What’s your advice on false attraction like i can recognize when a person is good looking but that scared me everyone is good looking now i didint thino like this before
@Anonymous I get it, like first off it’s completely fine to have attraction to anyone, it’s something not entirely in our control, it’s just an automatic response, so we never need to be scared or no need to blame ourselves for being attracted as it’s not completely in our control, being “scared” for that is the issue here I believe. The more we try to suppress it, the more worse it might be. So letting feelings come and go naturally but keeping a check on our values to see which attraction and feelings “we choose” to engage with is what matters! Remember, it’s not always how we “feel”, but how we react to that feelings that matters!! :)

@Anonymous No need to worry bro, like making something look “real” is exactly what OCD does even if it isn’t! The most effective way is to understand what we truly value and what we don’t, it can best be done by a therapist, they can clearly make us understand between our reality and OCD by going in-depth into our worries! In the meantime, understanding that everything is totally fine, what matters is our “real wish”, if we don’t want something we have every right to choose otherwise! By time we will for sure get more clarity in all such irrational worries, Hope everything will turn out well bro!!
hey, so i’ve had these insane thoughts about like, this dude. and i assumed it’s intrusive feelings, but it also has happened w the fact o think i like girls? but i don’t? like, i get the gronal response, and everything, and like, it sometimes feels like i actually like them, but it always makes me sick? same way w the false attraction guy, and it even started happening w my bsf of like 9 years? and it’ll tell me the most insane things like “maybe u are attracted” “maybe if u got w them the thoughts will stop” someone please help.
False attraction has been killing me ive had it for months with the same person. I have a boyfriend so having false attraction makes me feel so guilty. And lately theyve felt so real and ive been so anxious. What if I do like him bla bla. Ive only ever saw him as a brother and we have a good connection and he is one of my good friends but even sometimes when im having a conversation I feel like im cheating. Sometimes I get excited like oh yay he is gonna be here and then I get scared that it’s romantical because I get excited when he is around because he is a funny. Im so scared thats its real attraction because I love my boyfriend I would never do such a thing. And lately my minds done stuff like oh grab his attention stuff like that and it feels like I have done those actions but I dont want to. Sometimes when he is like idk sitting near Im like oh is he looking and my minds like oh do something to empress him bla bla. Recently he was going thought stuff and my boyfriend was there and I was I can give him a hug because I think he needs it but after I thought of it as bad because he is a guy and I had this false attraction what if I did it because I like him bla bla. I am freaking out idk why my mind makes me do compulsions that I have acted on like oh go talk to him and I do its weird urges that I do not want to do. I am scared that it will come true
hey guys, i’m almost fully healed in my socd journey but what’s stopping me is the false atractions. i get them almost 24/7 at this point and to every thing. they feel real and i hate them they make me feel disgusted. they also make me feel like hot and gross but then i see people saying thats what attractions feel like, but i have felt so much attraction to the opposite gender pre all of this and it felt nice and enjoyable not digustinf. i’m also getting false memory trying to show me ‘signal’ from my childhood to prove i’m gay amd i truly don’t know if they’re real. it’s so degrading and at this point i feel like govining up. pelesse if you have any advice or even if your going through the same thing just let me know. ocd is so terrible
