i’m looking to get on medication so i was just wondering
Hi, I’m currently on Prozac and I just started so I haven’t felt any changes in my ocd yet but Prozac is supposed to be very effective and so is Zoloft. So I would recommend those two for OCD and anxiety.
I am on 200 mg of setralin it helps!🫶
I’ve taken fluoxetine (Prozac) for the past 8 years and it worked absolute wonders for me. I just recently switched to sertraline (Zoloft) which I’ve heard can be really effective for people as well. Medications are very tricky and work different for everyone though, so one that works for me or someone else may not work well for you or vice versa. Don’t be afraid to try a few different things until you find what works best for you!
What sucks is a lot of people feel like they don't have time cause a lot of people start this stuff when they hit rock bottom.
@LilacPetal Out of interest why did you switch to sertraline?
I’m on Fluoxetine. Several times I’ve stopped taking it and regret doing so. Each time I say I’ll never do that again…. Maybe this time I actually won’t. The first few weeks are hard on it I find, I think it makes me worse at first but it’s hard to know for sure if that’s true or it would have been that way anyway and then gradually I improve

Does anafranil work? I've been on so many and nothing is helping. I'm so tired and desperate now. Don't know what to do. Depression, anxiety, ocd are at their highest. I'm paralyzed by it. 😔
Hi! I’d recommend (if you’re comfortable with that) do consult a therapist or doctor! Usually they can guide you, and help figure out what medication is best for you. Also, don’t get discouraged when meds don’t work instantly, you might need a different one, or give it some time to work. Hope this helps!
Did Prozac and Zoloft cause weight gain? Has anyone tried Luvox?
Tried all.... nothing for me unfortunately, but everyone is different
Everyone’s chemistry is different so what works for one person may not for another. The best way to go about it is just to talk to a doctor, try what they recommend, and keep notes about any side effects and how you feel so you can share it with them. If it’s not helping, you try a different one and repeat.
Zoloft was life changing for me 8 years ago, but I have a sense that it is loosing its effectiveness
Duloxetine. It has helped a lot but as others say it really depends on your body/brain chemistry. Prozac didn't work for me.
Effexor
What about Luvox?
I’m positive I have OCD I don’t think get too many compulsions but the obsessions are what mess with me. I’ve recently started medication for depression that is as a side effects supposed to treat ocd but I’m not noticing anything with the symptoms. Also who do I go to to try to get an actual diagnosis?
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
