Someone who was sick made food for me but I didn't eat it because they were sick but I don't want to waste the food because that would be disrespectful as they took their time to make it. I just don't want to take the risk of eating it and then getting sick. I hate getting sick. I don't know what to do about this.

Make a choice: obey your OCD and continue to suffer, or eat the food and rake a step in the direction of recovery. I know it isn't easy, but this is what we have to do. Remember: you are stronger than you know.
I'm not really sure I want to risk catching a bad cold. It just seems like a bad investment for myself, but it was good for and I really did appreciate them making it for me
@BigGyro09 Get you - but remember that risks are everywhere. You don't catch a cold from food, your stomach acid is too strong. Colds havevother ways to spread.
@Estrid I read that online but I also read that ill people shouldn't be preparing food. You really think I should eat the food? What if I end up getting badly sick? I'll just regret it in my mind and constantly say to myself that I shouldn't have done this and I'm dumb for giving in.
@BigGyro09 You have to make your own choices. But remember that OCD always will tell you that you have made a mistake when you go against your fears. The truth is that you can catch a cold even if you don't eat that food.
@Estrid That is true. I could catch a cold even if I don't eat that food, but I don't want to pose more of a risk of getting sick, even if it means OCD will still ridicule me about this whichever way. I think I'm going to pass. I'll just eat something else.
You don't have to eat something you feel bad about. Even though I think by getting the food warm again any virus would die, you can take the food to some homeless people so as not to waste the food after warm it again.
I read that heating up the food would kill all of the bacteria but maybe only few would survive. I'm flipping back on whether I should eat the food or not. Maybe I could tonight?
@BigGyro09 If you like that kind of food so much, warm it up and eat it with pleasure without worrying about any disease. Just enjoy your food! But if you don't feel comfortable, just ignore the food.
@Anonymous here It's in between. I love that type of food but I'm just gonna end up worrying so much through the entire day. But if I don't I'll just feel guilty about not eating it the whole day. It's lose lose..

They don't have other health problems, this cold was very sudden. I'm not 100% sure if they washed their hands but I'm willing to bet that they did and they tried their best to not cough near the food. I could try heating up the food to kill all of the germs that may be there. I see that while it's a risk, heating up the food can help and there's a low chance overall. Googling and searching for OCD answers is unfortunatley not the way forward. We have to live with risks as everyone else.
@Estrid Right, But I didn't search to get reassurance for him. I searched because I wanted to give him the correct answer. In some situations, especially for people like us who have OCD, we need help with something we can't convince ourselves of. Sometimes another person can give us the answer we really need.🙂
I genuinely think I contracted food poisoning . I had barely eaten throughout day until I got home from work . Had a sandwich and fries. I felt so stuffed afterwards , that I started to feel shortness of breath and nauseous. I felt better a little agyer but still felt full, I then stupidly continued to ate despite that. I had a pint of ice cream I had been saving since I got home. My main symptoms I’ve noticed have been Alor of dehydration, nauseo, and shortness of breath. Drinking water isn’t helping . I’m scared I’ll die in my sleep. I don’t wanna have to ruminate and get anxiety and possibly have to ask parents to rush me to hospital .
Hi everyone. I have food allergy ocd. Eating anything is hard for me. Especially if I’ve never had it before. It’s causing a lot of distress for me. Eating something new means I will probably spend at least an hour in anguish over whether or not it will give me an allergic reaction. I sometimes convince myself it is actually happening and it’s so frightening. I feel like nobody else has this theme and it makes me feel more alone and isolated since I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I miss when it wasn’t so hard but I worry that once I stop worrying then that’s when it will happen. Anyone have any advice?? 🥺🥺
I ate a frozen pizza and in the middle of eating it I imagined to myself "what if it was an edible cookie" because the way I was eating it it was the shape of a cookie due to not having pizza cutter around (or at least I cant find one) I just cant stand the thought of the possibility of accidentally eating an edible unknowingly or just anything drugged and I'm exhausted of this irrational fear controlling every single day and triggering panic attacks (or anxiety). I wasn't always like this, why is this happening to me now??? I used to be a very impulsive person and eat whatever was put in front of me, and I've always been fine, so why is this eating me now? To be honest I feel calm typing this right now, just a little frightened that I scared myself with that thought, but I'm scared that this calmness won't last long. I hate this!
